Well they are both great dogs but the Goldens really shed a lot. The labs are playful and funny but they are often chewing and so forth in their puppy days.
I have a suggestion why not got the the Human Society and choose an older dog you do not have to train and that would appreciate a good home. I got my dog from a shelter when he was two years old. He is a mix of terrier and Dalmatian (white with the black spots). He is adorable and so nice and he is the best dog I have ever had.
I think adopting a dog that is already 2 or more years old gets you over all the puppy destructiveness and then you also do not have to house train them. Dogs take a little adjusting when you get them home and they might lapse on the house training for a week or so but after a period of adjustment you will both grow to bond and love each other.
A dog is a wonderful companion and mine is like our child with four feet - we take him everywhere with us and he loves to go running on the beach near our house.
A well treated dog is a constant companion. I had a stroke last year when the medics came to get me, my dog thought they were harming me and tried to fight them - it was in a way, funny because he is a rather smallish dog and he is alwasy so nice but he was really fierce and scared them. He was inconsolable until I came home from the hospital the next week.
Good Luck!

Lab still is a birddog, hunting instinct is still there. The Golden is also a birddog, likes to carry things in their mouth.Either one of these breeds will love to chase sticks, run and play.I imagine the Lab likes rough housing a bit better than the Golden, who seems a bit more gentle natured. So between these two breeds I would go with what matches your own personality the best.Theres several other breeds to consider,if you want a dog that follows you,and keeps track of where you are,a herding dog may be a good choice, they keep the family together when out in nature..Sheltie(a smaller Collie-type dog)Bordercollie(alert)great Pyrenees(gentle, large, white dog)and Newfoundland(large, black dog)are some other choices.Go with your own lifestyle and personality.Do you have a big enough place for a large dog?Do you have plenty of time to exercise it?Afghan Hounds are beautiful, love to run,and are really laid back indoors...go study the different breeds at www. AKC.org and other dogbreed sites!Good Luck with your choice!

Some questions you have to think about when you bring a dog into your family are not as obvious as others.
What kind of living conditions are you living in right now? (Or will you be living in when you bring the pup home?)
Are you financically sound to deal with the first year of puppy hood? Vet bills, training, food, treats, toys, cameras to capture those priceless puppy moments? ^_^
I've had a lab for four years, (Maggie) at home and have had many goldens in my family (Sheena and Kelly). Both are great dogs for single or family life and are quite easy to train.
If you want the pup to jog with you in the morning both breeds will be willing to please, but you just have to be patient at first. They won't be able to jog as far as you the first few times. But as soon as you start training be consistant.
Good luck, hope some of this helps,

You want a companion for life? Get an Australian Shepherd. I have an Australian shepherd puppy, and he is so loyal it amazes me. He's ALWAYS looking for me or at me, as if to say What next, mom? They are so intelligent and easy to train. I've already taught him six voice commands and he's only a puppy (about six months old)!! They follow you everywhere and never leave your side. I take my Australian shepherd for jogs every evening after school, and he gladly follows me without a leash.
The reason they are so loyal and are always at your side has to do what they were bred for. They were herding dogs, and so they always needed to look to their master for the next order. Herding dogs are also extremely intelligent. They were also bred for agility, which makes them smart and athletic.
My australian shepherd is also very sweet and gets along great with other dogs and people. a little hint - when you get the dog make sure he is submissive. Dominant dogs tend to be on the aggressive side. Good luck with ur search

If you are ready a Boxer is the dog for you. They are wonderful companions. Jogging would be great because boxers love to run. Boxers have a great since of humor and are considered a clown but are very much loyal friend.

I am a firm believer in visiting the local pound/humane society. not only do they often have many pure breds, but there are so many mutley mixes...often they are the best...friendly, dedicated, and will love you no matter what. I have 3 mutts...2 are black lab mixes that are sisters from the same litter, and the other is some kind of rottweiler/shepherd mix...each one has their own personality...i love them sooooo much, and they love me back..i am NEVER alone with them around...as i'm typing this, i look around and see Otis and Lucy snoozing on my bed, and Sui is asleep at my feet...I also have 2 wonderful, loving cats, that get along spendidly with the dogs...Fred and Aggie are also sleeping on the bed...close to the dogs for warmth...lol...good luck..you will never feel so loved when you find the right one for you. please do check the shelters before making your final decision.

They're So-o-o-o-o-o-o faithful! I met a girl from Ca. (I live in Va.) and she came here and we eventually married. She brought with her a lab (actually a mix called a Carolina Dingo) and I've never seen such a devoted dog. It's a girl and she NEVER likes to be more than 3 feet away from me! She's with me constantly!! She's an excellent watch dog - very protective and loyal. She is so full of love and emotion. She's the sweetest dog on earth! I highly recommend the Lab!!!!! Good luck!

It's a hard call between Labs and Goldens. Goldens tend to shed more and with the long light colored hair, it's easily seen. But both dogs are equal in temperament and companionship seeing as they are both retreivers. GREAT dogs to love on, play with, and just enhoy being with. Best dogs there are if you ask me!

It learns a thank you to accomplish initiatives or do artwork that promptly mitigate the guy's existence proscribing disability. maximum human beings of folk with psychological ailment are no longer disabled by it. in actuality, whilst in comparison with the variety of folk who would be clinically determined with some style of psychological ailment of their lives, maximum each and every physique isn't disabled by psychological ailment. training a provider canines is time eating and costly and selecting a canines from a safeguard or pound isn't recommended for somebody without progressed journey in temperament attempting out. A spouse canines is merely a posh call for a puppy. perchance you mean "emotional help animal"? An ESA, as they are frequently observed, is a puppy that a doctor recommends be allowed to stay with somebody in no-pets housing because of the fact their psychological ailment is disabling.
