My friend is dating a 38 year old (looks 32 according to her) and she is 25. He was in a relationship when they started talking and once the ex even went to her house (they didn't really interact). Now ex is gone to another state and my friend is dating the guy. Would like opinions on this.

it's great you are concerned for you friends. but your friend has found someone she likes yet you focus on his problems. we all have problems. did she ask for your opinion? are you offering it without her asking... to 'help' her. how old are you? did you find an older guy attractive and feel ashamed? look it's not how old you are really. it is between them and you should get out of it. if he's wrong for her he's wrong no matter what the age. if he's right he's right no matter the age. when shes 65 he'll be 78

but if he's on her level and she's holding her own, it might be the best thing for both of them. she may even be more mature than him. if you are looking for advice, i'm happy to give it, but is it for you or her? sounds like you have a problem with it. you mentioned the ex 3 times. and your friend once.

having said that, if he's ordering her around and controling her in subtle ways then he's looking for someone to have power over.

If he looks 32 and is 38 that means he's 42 to 45!! trust me im an older guy not too old!! but old enough to know this guy is no good!! she should dump him because he probably only wants one thing!and at 25 most women from my experiance are still unsure of what they want they are young and naive.

At 25 she has a lot of good years left in her. AT 38 he is going to start aging. Some girls are attracted to an older man as a father figure they never had. Older men love attracting young chick to tick off the ex-wife and to give their libido a boost. They probably belong together because they are equally mentally unhealthy.

Sounds perfect to me..
Women are usually better off with older guys..
He is not too old for her...
She needs to make sure he is mature, stable, not divorced several times with several children and a bunch of child support & alimony.
He must be financially stable, good credit rating, credit cards, education, good job & career future, not an alcoholic, or druggie,
and on and on and on...Background checks and all..House, Cars.
Get a good pre-nup before marriage...No more than 2 yrs. as a live in without marriage proposal...She needs to look at this like a long term investment...

It's not bad to date an older guy, my ex was 20 years older then me and we had our ups and downs in the relationship but he taught me allot of things and were still really close... tell her you wish her the best, she'll learn what it means to be in a real relationship with this guy because he's older and wiser...

Regardless of the comments made by others on this subject what matters is:
1) that your friend is happy
2) that the relationship they have should be healthy, equitable
and rewarding for both

I think its ok. Its her business, anyway. I know a woman who married a man over 10 years her senior, and he already had 2 kids so he's refused to have any more. that has put a strain on the relationship.
