I recently rescued a puppy (hound mix) who was the runt of the litter. She is extremely small and engorged with worms.

I know I should take her to the vet. Any ideas on how much treatment will cost? (....not like it matters, I'm broke)

I have already given her very strong prescription de-worming medication that my father keeps on hand. Is there anything else I can do?

Please help. She is in very bad condition and I'm afraid of losing her!

One who is into "rescuing" critters really needs to take in account vet bills. Was this pup dumbed on your door? Did you go out and seek this puppy?
Take the pup to the vet and make payment arrangements, if you will not do this then take the pup to the pound they will give this pup a proper home that can take care of her.
Rescued is a mis used word today......

Dewormer should give the puppy improvement within 12 hours. If the stools were really loose and you saw critters in it, it is a bad case.
If the problem has not improved you need to bring a sample to the vet tomorrow (monday), and get an appropriate medication for your puppy. Depending on the worm types the medications are different for kiling them.

Until then, keep your puppy drinking lots of fluids. Borrow some money to take it for a vet visit. It sounds like she really needs it.

ALRIGHT YOU NEED TO GO TO THE VET EVEN THOUGH YOU GAVE THE PUP THE WORM-ER, IT MIGHT NOT BE KILLING THE RIGHT WORMS. YOU NEED TO KEEP THE PUP HYDRATED PULL UP THE SKIN IF IT STAYS UP AFTER U LET GO SHE IS DEHYDRATED IF IT GOES BACK DOWN SHE NOT. LOTS OF WATER! I KNOW YOUR BROKE BUT ALOT OF VETS WILL LET YOU POST DATE A CHECK, BORROW THE MONEY IF POSSIBLE BUT IT SHOULDN'T BE MORE THAN $50. SOMETIMES A DOG CAN HAVE TO MANY WORMS AND THERE REALLY ISN'T ALOT YOU CAN DO. I HOPE THIS HELPED. I WISH YOU AND UR PUPPY ALL THE BEST. there is a worm-er starts with a p you get it at vets it cost $15 that is what you need.

Almost all vets will let you just drop off a sample 7 dollars for the test 8 dolars for the worm meds they do not need to be seen and if your vet insist on seeing it for worms he is a money monger and not intrested in the animals find a new vet

When I took my cat to the vet and she had worms (from a mouse she caught) I was charged for the vet visit and the injection to kills the worms. I think I paid right around $50, not too bad. Worth every penny to save my cat! Good luck.

If you can't afford medical care........then you don't need a pet.........The pup needs help and you are not helping.........that qualifies as animal endangerment or cruelty.
