We owe our selves to the stars, generators of life-sustaining energy and matter. The Sun is but one of countless numbers. In that energy, just a tiny part of the electromagnetic stream, are the wavelengths we perceive as light. When that energy is available in total, it appears to be white; when viewed as individual wavelengths, we "see" what we call red, yellow, orange, etc. Shorter wavelengths are redder; longer wavelengths are bluer. When that energy hits matter, some is absorbed into it, some reflected depending on the nature of that matter. When all or most is absorbed, we call the lack of reflection "black;" and when all is reflected, we say it is "white." When only part of the energy is reflected, we say that object is red, or orange, or some other color. While light acts as a wave of energy, it also acts like a bullet -- a photon, traveling straightlong but losing a bit of energy as it travels relentlessly. The "leaky" photon is not decribable in wavelength terms but you may want to google the term to learn more. Light energy, as with the rest of the electromagnetic spectrum, spreads in a circular pattern once its is emitted from a star (or other source). The energy pack increases in volume the further it travels, and a given amount of energy therefore falls off inversely as the square of the distance. The strength of light hitting an object at two feet is one-fourth the strength of light hitting an object at four feet, and one sixteen as strong as an object at eight feet. And, if the light source is moving away or toward us, the wavelengths are shifted toward the red or blue respectively (think of the Doppler effect in sound). Color is a phenomena of the light source, our eye ( the receptor), and our brain (the interpreter). The receptors have limits and we cannot see much beyond violet (ultraviolet) or in the other direction, red (infrared) so there remains tremendous unseen portions of the solar energy...and all that is not what we call light or color.

Colours speaks a thousand words.
Red – for passion, activity, excitement
Pink – romantic, peaceful, tenderness, harmony
Orange – confidence, cheerfulness, friendliness
Yellow – aids concentration and memory (which is why the original post-it notes were yellow!), optimism, sociability
Blue – tranquility, contentment, trust; or in cooler shades, depressing or passive
Green – growth, hope, health, renewal
Purple – imagination, creativity, inspiration
Adding a color to our surroundings or clothing could make a vast difference in our lives.

do you mean, what are their meanings? If so...
Colors have different meanings for everyone, but I think cool colors (blue, green, purple) normally represent something calm and relaxed while warm colors (red, yellow, orange) represent warmth and activity. It really depends on the individual.

The color that they absorb is different from the color that they reflect. Like the color white has absorb all colors that is why it reflects no color.
