You may have heard about the concept of paying it forward -- the idea of doing something meaningful to help someone else without asking for anything in return. So, if you were given $1,000,000 with the understanding that it had to be used to help others, how would you use the money and why?

I loved the movie pay it forward and pretty much lead my life that way. I always have. When you see someone who needs help. You should do something if you can. If they'll let you.
I always give the homeless guy begging at least 5 bucks. It's not much but it's more than he usually gets. I was at a hockey game with about 6 of my family members. Outside after the game there was a guy begging. Now I know the guy does that just about every night. I don't care. They said "he'll just buy booze or drugs with the money". You know what? I don't care what he does with the money. If he buys booze, then so be it. If I made him comfortable for one night. I've done my job. If a man is reduced to begging. Who cares what he does with the money.
A million dollars isn't much. Here's what I'd do with it. I'd give money to send out of control teenagers to boot camp.
A friend of mine, her son, he's totally wild and she has no control over him. Nobody will help her. He's going to jail for sure. She hardly sleeps at night.

1,000,000 could make a big difference in many peoples lives. First I would do some research. Starting with schools and Sr. Citizens. (Usually children who receive reduced or free lunches have two parents working but not making a whole heck of a lot of money.) I would find out what I could about them. If I felt they were deserving, trying to make it and just are having a hard time of it, then every month would send them $1,000 anonymously. That way, they would not know from whom it came nor how long it would last. I would also check out students who's family cannot afford to send them to school, but are deserving and fall between the cracks of the system. Or maybe a contest where people have to write and tell me why they need money, be it for themselves or someone else.

I would buy them anything that theyk wanted that could have a positive influence on their lives. Like a house or donations to a charity. I would also make sure that they did not squander their earnings. They would need to make an investment, at least out of half, and use the rest to live off from.

I would give a third to Easter Seals to help with the children they help there, a third to Heifer Project International, because they are just an awsome oganization that works around the phrase "give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime, and the other third to Habitat for Humanity. If I had to help just one person, I would give the money to my cousin, who worked for Easter Seals for years and let him decide who needs it the most.

BEING A SURVIVOR OF KATRINA OUT OF NEW ORLEANS, RELOCATED TO PHILA.,PA. I CAN THINK OF NOTHING BETTER THAN BRINGING TOGETHER OTHER SURVIVORS IN THIS AREA WHO ARE NO DOUBT FEELING LOST AND SEPERATED AND FORMING AND ORGANIZATION THAT WOULD REALLY HELP THEM TOWARDS RECOVERY. THE DISPLACED PEOPLE OF THE GULF COAST THAT HAVE NOTHING TO RETURN TO AND ARE TRYING TO REBUILD THEIR LIVES IN NEW SURROUNDINGS NEED ALL THE RESOURCES AND ENCOURAGEMENT THAT CAN BE GIVEN SO IF I WERE BLESSED WITH THAT KIND OF MONEY I KNOW OF ABOUT 1500 PERFECT STRANGERS I'D LOVE TO HELP.

I would establish an endowment program to encourage reading and expenses for families that lose a love-one without means to provide final expenses.

I would like to be able to give the $1,000,000.00 to Shriners Hospitals and Burn Centers for Children. I know the $1,000,000.00 would be put to the best use. It would help the most children.
