The reason I don't read the bible is because it confuses me too much, and it's easier to get answers from normal people in a language I can understand.

The idea that we are God's children is a metaphor. Muslims ridicule Christians for this -- as if we believe God has a wife and literally begets children. We don't. God created Adam and Eve -- Adam from dust, and Eve from Adam's rib.

The Father-child metaphor is the closest thing we have to understanding our love relationship with God -- God loves us as a good father loves his children, and we are called to love him like we would love a good father.

Adam and Eve are God's children in the context of this loving relationship, and the story of Adam and Eve teaches us about our relationship with one another as all humankind is brother and sister, descendents of the same parents. The very next story in the bible points out the error of Cain who killed his brother Abel (both sons of Adam and Eve).

The beautiful story of Adam and Eve has many lessons -- that God loves us like a Father, that his creation is good, that all of humanity is brother & sister regardless of race or any other thing we use to divide ourselves and justify treating one another badly.

Yes, Adam and Eve are God's children. God created Adam out of the dust of the Earth. God created Eve from one of Adam's ribs. After they were created, God would come down from Heaven and talk with them everyday and had told them not to eat from the forbidden tree of Good and Evil. Both Adam and Eve did eat from that tree and God had to kick them out of the Garden of Eden because sin was introduced to the world. The Garden was eventually destroyed and mankind had to learn to take care of himself with God's help. That is just the beginning of the story, there is a whole lot more.

According to faith Adam was created in Gods image and then given a woman for company who just happened to have an innie instead of an outie.
Man was supierior and woman was a temptress with an apple (actually a cherry), Adam ate the apple and spread the (his) seed. Then thier children all had sex with each other and the human race began.
Then some were made black because they were wicked and the fair skinned ones were better and we had new races who magically appeared all over the world. All different colores, different looks and different genetic make up.
Never ask questions to get an answer for a fairy tale because the answer will also be a fairy tale.

I agree with "sun will shine again's" answer. The information you are looking for is in Genesis.

Study and read the bible for yourself. Ask questions, check answers against what the bible says.

If you would like more information about Adam and Eve and bible study feel free to email me.

From what I have studied, here is some information that may shed some light on your question- up to you how you wish to decipher it.

The history of Christianity tells us that Sophia gave Adam "breath" and Eve is her daughter. This dates back to c. 400 C.E. in Alexandria. It incorporates parts of the story of Genesis, but from a gnostic point of view.
If you can get a copy of the book I mentioned, it is very deep reading, I'm still studying it. There is a whole chapter that explains it better than I could.

They are God's children
God created them from the dust of the ground
And with his breath he breathed life into them
He also let Adam fall into a deep sleep and took
a rib, and made Eve.
The story is in

Genesis 1: 26
Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, [b] and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

27 So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.

28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

Bless You...............

The wishy-washy stock answer is that everyone is a child of "god." The story goes that he created Adam from dust and Eve from a rib of Adam. I guess you could call them children.

I like your answer better, Jen.
