Luke 12

4"I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. 5But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him. 6Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies[a]? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. 7Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

When the bible says "Fear God" it doesn't mean to be afraid, the greek verb used there is translated into english as fear in the sense "take serious". Like when you say "I fear he may be right"
Here God says take me more serious than men, because if you "CHOOSE" to follow Satan (who controls men) who'll end up where he's going. Paraphrasing: Then Jesus continues: I'm warning you about this now, because you mean so much to me, much more than the sparrows.

Jesus is the life-support system, God has provided a way to keep us alive even after we've sinned. If we CHOOSE to pull that plug by not following His Word again, than when we die (destroyed along with satan) it's our own fault.

Nothing in the Bible is really literal my friend. They don't really mean sparrows... they're demonstrating the fact that God remembers everything! He is all-knowing and all-powerful. God does not want to be feared he wants to be loved. He wants us to love! God is saying fear the Devil, know the consequences of your decisions, and everyone will die at some point because no one is above GOD. Everyone's hairs are "numbered" because at some point we will all die and leave our bodily forms.

ps. Agnostics... please stay out of spiritual affairs since you really have no souls yourselves (that you're willing to accept) and you probably don't read the Bible anyway and if you do then you're not an Agnostic.. Agnostics just want to sound smart and act like their questioning the world around them and God and stuff but actually they're scared shitless for the afterlife.

012:004 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
012:005 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
012:006 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?
012:007 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

The version I provided you with shows that the verses do not have a contradiction. I don't know what perversion version you got the text you pasted from but I will link for you so that you can have a free online AKJV HOLY BIBLE for yourself. If you haven't read it from cover to cover you should get off the net and do so.

No because it's saying don't be scared of man because there is a higher power you should be concerned about. And the fear that is used in verse 5 means reverence. You should acknowledge that God is all powerful.

No, he is saying to only fear God
That is not a fear like you think
It is to have respect and reverence

The other is that he will take care of us, we are always
seen by God and he knows our needs
He is saying don't worry about food or clothing
he will provide

God is Love.....................

It says not to fear others but to fear god because he can send you to hell. And I was starting to believe all these christians who were telling me that he is such a loving person too.
