Hasselblad H3D is probably the best. It's between 30 - 40 thousand dollars. But it won't make your pictures any better. Then again a good photographer could make images with a 1 megapixel camera look good.

First of all it is NOT about the camera only !!! Any brand (Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Sony, Kodak) digital camera above the 8 Megapixels can give you the picture quality. But after all about the hardware (camera, filters, tripod) comes the photographer skills. I mean ...you can buy today Canon Rebel XTi (DSLR) which will give you a big boost from any compact camera and offer you the all automatic, semi-automatic and/or full manual control over settings ...but ...do you know how to use all this ? And after you learn the camera what do you know about composition...light... post-processing ? Because ...one thing is the brute frame / file from your camera and something else is the final result ... the photo.

So ..my advice: buy any camera in your budget + go to library and ask about some digital photography books and practice ... practice ...practice ... ;-)

Any decent point & shoot camera will take professional looking photos....... In the right hands!
What you probably need is not necessarily a new camera, but a couple of good books in beginner's photography, including camera function, lighting, and composition. While you're at it, thoroughly review your camera manual and learn what the controls are and what they do.
Learn what your camera can do and how to make it happen, then develop your eye for seeing good light where ever you go
That's how your photography will improve!

Mine should have gray, brown and blonde hair because I am trying to grow it out a bit. It should have wrinkles--not too many, but an appreciable amount. And the *real* avatar I made is much longer than this. That is not a white shirt. It's a karate gi with a black belt.

Canon and Olympus are both very good brands of digital cameras. I would NOT recommend Kodak, HP, or Fuji.

canon and Nikon. Canon xt rebel (like Nikon 70d). Also look at the 30d canon and 10. They are professional cameras and not too expensive.

Please consider SONY!
Not known for their cameras however; provide excellent customer support and cameras are great-- they just came out with a touch screen camera!
I would not buy any other than Sony!
