Why don't you welcome the opportunity to show the way to your God as your Bible has instructed you?

I guess they don't want people to notice the inconsistencies and nonsensical things that become blatantly obvious whenever you analyze organized religion, and particularly the Bible.

It's all fine as long as you accept every word in those "holy books" without thought. But as soon as you question just a little bit, the cards start to fall. You're eventually left with two choices: Decide that God in some way defies logic, or reject the book as false.

The simplest response to your question is that oftentimes the atheist "debates" are off-topic and do not add anything to the discussion. Sometimes Christians (and atheists) want to discuss a topic without interference by those who are committed to a contrary POV. I would feel the same way if a theist butted into a conversation concerning atheism.

RE your second question: People also have the right (and good sense) to decline opportunities that show no promise, such as atheists trolling Christian forums demanding to be witnessed to. Pearls before swine, I think it's called.

Hoping it is okay for an ex-Christian to answer. I'll try to be insightful.
The debate that I see on Y!A is not a debate about logic. It is a spiritual debate. You can't expect the questions and answers in a non-logical debate to be logical. You can expect statements to be spirited, passionate, emotional, but since when did spirit ever make sense?
If people were really bugged by the ideas that get tossed around on yahoo, they could go watch videos or play mah jong.

Because they reject the Bible as a source of proof. And they are closed minded. If the Bible is true it says "The FOOL has said in his own heart, there is no God". Being a Christian I consider an athiest a fool. And I'm sure they feel likewise.

I dont think it's wrong at all... debate away but as soon as you (or any atheist in question) starts disrespecting, it becomes a fight and not a debate. This of course works the other way around too. No question worries me any but I dont like to waste time on someone just picking a fight.

Why is it wrong that we debate you? You have your opinion and we believe in ours. Ya know when you believe in something that is wonderful you want to tell everyone (like those pesky Amway dealers) so they too will have a chance at a life full of belief in a loving God. when we stop talking about our beliefs who will you have to be angry with

Definitely don't think it's wrong as long as the debate is truly a well thought out DEBATE, and not just attempt to introduce as much "shock" factor as some of them go for. I welcome the rational questions and thoughts, but the ones that are just blantant attempts to "shock" are insulting to everyone.

As a Christian, I have talked with Athiest about the existence of God. And I do welcome the opportunity to show the -Athiest and anyone else who is not a Christian- God's way.

I don't think it wrong, but I feel some of them go about it in a very rude manner. And I do welcome the opportunity to show them the way but many have there minds made up. Doing my best.

God bless,

Intelligent Christians don't think it's wrong. Many people of all faiths cannot think in terms of anything other than what they grew up with.

Ignorance really is bliss. The more knowledge we gain the less blissful we become.
