Liars tend to look up when they talk. It has actually been proven that when a person is talking and they glance up to the left, they are more likely lying. If they glance up to the right, they are most likely telling the truth.
Also, liars tend to fiddle with their hands and show small nervous habits too.

I believe when they do not look me straight in the eyes while speaking with me.
Sometimes their face is red, or they are just not acting as they usually do.
They try to prove themselves, in so many ways, that they really end up destroying their lie.........especially when I know the truth
They try to turn things around as though I am not telling the truth.
If they are perfect strangers, mmmm , hard to tell, unless I know the subject we are speaking about.
Make sense? In my heart, their is no reason to lie.....They would be better off not saying anything. It just brings so much mistrust
towards that person.

If you lie about something, it is hard to keep the details consistent. If you think they are lying about something, periodically ask for details. For example, if a BF/GF cheated on you and were claiming they went out with friends, ask what friends? where did they go? when did everyone go home? what happened that night? Every time they answer these questions, something about the answers will change!

Scratch behind their ear-each liar has a sort of tic to go with the lie. Learn to recognize it.

They always talk very fast. I just detest fast talkers. And they don't give you any chance to talk while themselves talking dictatorially- very controlling way of communication, abnoxious! Think about those sales people and telemarketers. They usually have a big mouth.

Lack of eye contact, stories that don't add up, stories that sound far fetched, stuttering, anger when asked about something they're lying about, defensive behavior

They would be lacking confidence when lying and if you ask more question about the that thing they would either get confused or would tell something irrelevent.
