This may not be much comfort, but most people have screwed up families. However there are only a few like you and I that will admit it. My family is the same, sometimes it gets so bad I have to stay away from some of them for months on end. I have learned that they may be my family, but sometimes you have to put some distance between you and them for survival..

You are not alone. My second oldest sister and her wild bunch just left today to go back to Chicago. And I hope they don't come back for Christmas. I hate to sound that way, but when they come down here (I live is a small town in Tennessee), they don't know how to behave themselves. I took some of them to a local store yesterday and that was the most embarrassed I've ever been. They were acting all loud and stuff and two of them were caught stealing items. (in a small town like I live in, that made me look bad considering my husband is a cop in this town)
I am seriously thinking of telling them that they are banned from my house. And I'm sure our mom feels the same way. (She lives in the same town I do and was in the store with us when this happened.)
I know family is family, but I'm at my wits end with that bunch.

my sister kicked me out of thanksgiving because my 2 yr old, nor I was educated on her house rules. Family was a lot less screwed up when we were a family instead of having families and trying to incorporate them. Why, I wish I new, but what I do know is I would never be mean to family on a holiday.

The world is full of screwed up family's so your not alone. My husband and I always laugh about my crazy family and I tell him, they probally think I'm the one screwed up. You know what they say, you can pick your friends but you can't pick your relatives. That is so true. One good thing about it all is....once you grow up and move out at least you can choose how much time you spend with the really screwed up ones.

again, welcome to teh club!! I am soon to be marrying into the most ****** up family the Gods have ever seen... one drama queen seems to think that she does all the work... she bitches and bitches (especially around holidays, so i hear) and no one is spared a tongue-lashing. She makes up stories about me and is too chickenshit to face me directly. She has elected of her own volition to do what she thinks she has to do, and outright refuses to let anyone else do anything. No one seems to make the cut to her imaginary, ever-changing expectations. Teh stupidity of some people in this clan is absolutely ludicrous... So yeah, dude, I feel your pain...

It sounds like your caught in the middle. I think you should tell them that they should butt out. They seem rude, but probably didn't try to make you feel bad. Don't try to hurt them.

Oh, brother! Welcome to the club.
I would tell you some stories, but I don't believe in airing dirty laundry. Suffice to say I don't speak to my siblings, they don't speak to me, and we all like it that way.
