depends on what you mean by "help her"..she will be in heat actively about 2 weeks, then she slowly goes out,but keep her away from male dogs for at least 3 weeks, bathe her to get the heatscent out of her fur.Treat her as usual,it is a normal event for a female dog.She will be cleaning herself more that usual, thats fine and natural too.Vitamin B seems to help calm them some, use dry yeast powder,a pinch a day on her food,if a small dog,a teaspoon a day for a large dog.Natural remedies are the safest. She will feel a little confused at the time of her first heat, just comfort her and turn her attention away from it by playing a little extra with her.Soon all will be back to normal..Good Luck!

We had to put shorts on my golden lol. Some dogs have a period like humans do, it lasts about a week and lets you know she is going into heat. The 12thday i believe is the day your pup is most fertile. This is when you would want to breed, other wise keep your pup away form other non neutered male dogs. Don't be worried about her its a natural thing and lasts about a month. She isnt in any pain etc.
