I think they are here to ask questions that will probably shake up someone weak in their faith, they want to break down, and poke holes into what we believe. They call it opening our eyes to what's Logical, I simply view it as fulfilling the prophecy in God's word. I don't know about you but they increase my faith every time they try and provoke doubt, condemn our faith, put us on trial for our beliefs, crack jokes about our faith, and most of all spread the message of disbelief in God. What I truly can not understand is if they really do not believe why do they even bother, I have said it once and I will say it again I DO NOT believe in Smurfs so there for I do not seek out people who do in order to try and change their minds. But to each his own live and let live, preach on Atheist preach on.....

I definitely do not support religion of any kind even though most religions try to teach people to be kind, humble and caring. Unfortunately religion failed in this regard. However, I do believe in God without believing in religion. I believe that God created the vast universe and that he created life on earth via evolution. He planted the first seed that led to life. He made the planet from gases and rocks and He is the only one we should accept as THE LORD, KING OF THE COSMOS. We do not need religion for that. Don't knock atheists because they don't believe in everything you do. They probably do not accept religion for the same reasons that I do, but I would hope that at least they would accept God. Certainly no one can actually prove beyond any question of a doubt that God exists but if taken on faith and even on scientific evidence that it has to be a superior power that created the universe and life on our planet. Even Albert Einstein believed in a superior power.

Have you even noticed how many other religions are represented here? Of course not, yours is the one with all the answers right?
Do you really think that everyone want to be like you? Heck even when I was a Christian I didn't want everyone to be like me ........................ Come to think of it I did leave didn't I.
Is it at all possible that people come in here to learn something about other beliefs?
I mean this is not the CR section, this belongs to all religions and none at the same time.
Atheist have questions about religion too, some of them are quite good, truth be told some of them are as annoying as some of the other fanatics as well.
Spend less time trying to be in the spotlight of importance and victimization and try to just sit back and engage in some meaningful dialog without trying to fit it into your self defined box.

maybe you are right about some of the people on the site, but you can't just say that because not everyone is the same. you can't just say "atheists who visit this site want to be christians", you just can't. it's like saying that every white person is a racist. or every french person is rude and hates children. you are generalising. also, i think there are a lot of christians on this site who strongly try to impose their views, especially in sex-related questions. whenever someone asks for advice with something sex-related, there are a fair amount of christians who, instead of actually answering the question, put stuff like: don't do it til you're married; source: god.
the key idea here is "each to their own". if one wants to be christian, so be it, and if not, then so be it aswell.
live and let live.

"Beyond the obvious of just attempting to be pains in the rumps"
Umm, if they bother you that much, then why are you on an OPEN FORUM where the existence of God is free to be debated? There are plenty of message boards and forums out there where they'll BAN you if you're not Christian. This really isn't the place to be if you can't stand hearing the dissenting voices.

Pay no attention to those atheists who have reacted to your hurtful judgement of them. Instead, hear my opinion as a Christian: I love and enjoy reading the Atheist's answers. They are human like you and me, and I would never say to them: quit answering my questions, or quit harrassing me with your "place insult here". Your question places ill-founded judgement upon them, for you do not know their life story, nor have they divulged it to you, and even if they should, you would not get the entire story, for there would not be enough time for you to hear it. Therefore, it is easier for you to say this. Ask God for a more loving heart. I think the atheists who visit this section are MORE than welcome. The people who bother me, however, are the ones with a great deal of anger, the kind that seems to leap out of the screen at you and grab you by the throat and...well, that's not going to happen either, is it?

You seem to think that religion and spirituality is limited to Christianity. There are many factions that are covered here, obviously far more than you can phantom. Yes, some people are rude, others obnoxious, but most are civil polite people that may ask questions that make you think. Or do you just come here to discuss Christianity? There is Yahoo Groups that cater to select groups of people. Try that, it may be more to your liking.

I am an atheist who tries to give honest answers without harassing or insulting anyone. I respect those people who ask thoughtful questions, and for those who want to ask smartass questions, I'll give them their smartass answer. I quite enjoy discussing the ideas of religion.
I also seek to educate people who just don't understand what atheism is or why someone would be one. I am not "searching for truth", I've got all the truth I need, thank you very much.

On my campus during times of good weather, one or more preachers from local churches come to proselytize to the students. One in particular, with his very controversial "sermons", attracts crowds of hecklers on a frequent basis. If consciously going somewhere where beliefs are different from your own is a result of one's subconscious interest in those beliefs, as you suggest, does that preacher want to be challenged? Does that preacher want to be convinced to turn away from his faith? If this preacher can remain true to his religion on my campus, then atheists can remain true to their lack of faith in this forum.
