Ask yourself "what does this person have that I want?". Then ask your self if this is something that you can have. If the answer is yes, then plan how to work on yourself to have that quality in yourself. If it is some quality that you can not ever possess, like being taller, learn to love what you have and do the best with it that you can. We all have talents and attributes that others envy too, but we don't know it. Everyone is special with our own talent. Find yours. We are all here to be a part of the whole, each has a purpose and the world would be less without you in it.

Depends what you are envying. If it is someone's spouse then......... you need help. If it someone's new PS3 then go get a job, get some money, and get your own PS3. If it is something so expensive that you could never afford to buy, then come up with a reason you don't want/ need it. Like, what's the point of a Porsche if it can only seat 2 people while a car 1/20th the cost can seat four?

One must deny the sin of envy not the envy itself.
Impotent envy is merely a sincere compliment to most of us on this planet. My advise is to keep your spirit pure rather than a victim from being guilt ridden . a grain of salt can do wonders

Envy is the same spirit as lust
To lust after , to want what another one has
If you want something someone else has, and you constantly have that on your mind
It is wrong.
Repent of it and put your mind on something else
Like the fruit's of the spirit, something good,
Replace it.
If you just want that, and are not using an evil eye against another
It is not sin
You may be reading too much into it.
Bless you

i'm a guy who's barely 5'7" so I envy tall human beings. i do no longer triumph over envy. each and every time I see somebody who's critically taller than me, i won't be able to help thinking "that is so effective..."

Repent to God for feeling envy, ask Him to help you overcome this.... (trust me, I have to do this!)

You don't. You work on it. You look within at what you've got--not what the Jones' have. It doesn't hurt to work hard and reap your own rewards. If you want it, go out and get it.

1 Corinthians 13:4
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth NOT; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
Charity means love.
It is something we have to work on and sometimes it isn't easy.

If you are happy and content with yourself, you enjoy all you have and are thankful for it. I think it all starts with your own self worth and pride in yourself.
