I have children and a grandchild on the way and I need to know some medical information. Are there any organizations that will help me at no cost?

Hey Janet,

I may not be able to help with the "no cost" part. Records keeping usually cost a nominal fee. Here are some adoption web sites that should answer your questions. You should be able to go to the Town, City, County, or State records keeping agencies and get your birth records, and apply for your adoption records.

Have you checked Adoption.com to see if your birth family is looking for you? DO THAT right now. Also, if you have not registered at that site you should, I have found many matches for others using information there families have posted.
HONESTLY I have found about 6 matches in the last 5 months.
Do you have a birth name or the name of your birth mother?
Even though she probably changed her name by getting married, she can still be found. It just takes time and good record keeping on your part. Follow up on ANY POSSIBLE LEAD.

Also, there is a forum section on Adoption.com with many VERY experienced search angels who can help you find what you need for free! I would go to the forum "search and reunion" then go to the state of your birth. In the title column type need search angel help please and you should get a few willing to step in and give it their best shot.

I am a child of the 60's too and managed to find my birth father with just a first and last name. (one of the most common names in the USA by the way) It took me a few months just because I did it myself and again, his common name.

If I can be of more help, just E-mail me and let me know.

BEST OF LUCK!!!

If you know the name of the agency which handled your adoption you could write & ask them if they could hook you up with your biological mother. They will do so if your biological mother did the same thing.

I believe that you could make the same request with the state bureau of vital statistics or whatever it is called in your state.
