It's definitely a nice gesture. If you're interested in a relationship, it lets the lady know that you're understanding of the fact that she already has children, and that's always a good thing. Also, she should let you know whether the children are coming, so that you can select the dinner accordingly. She may not want to bring the children for an initial meeting, but regardless of her decision, I'm certain that if there's any chemistry at all between you in person she'll think of your invitation as a very kind gesture later.

Giving her the option to bring the kids was a kind gesture. It might be a bit awkward depending on how the kids react to you, but you won't know until you meet them.

Kids are a no no, they get bored, and they start to act up. Plus young kids shouldn't be up too late. The good thing is you at least cared about a babysitter.
How about this?
Let her get a sitter and you guys hang out
OR
you go to her place, the kids stay up, but stay in their rooms?
Either way, be safe, it's a lot of crazies online

It would be better that you meet her alone for the first time to get to know her better before bringing the kids into the picture.

There is no rule that says you can't invite the kids. I think that is very considerate of you and she should appreciate that about you. Good luck!

That is very understanding. If you put it that way, I'm sure that she'll find it thoughtful. She may well want to meet you alone though. Good luck!

don't make every thing in your life so complex....
just take it easy...
if the kids came with their mother so you'll know that your friend isn't that complex. so should you... just have a good time with her and always remember that her kids might be nicer than her !!!

If you've offered and she has accepted, there is no issue of "etiquette", just the opinions of all your answerers.

You know you shouldnt go with someone that is divorced unless she is a widow! I for one if my dad was still alive and you went with my mom, I would see you as an invader into our lives and wouldnt respect you at all! If so beat it!
