And if so, why do you think it hasn't ended? There must be millions of people praying their hearts out, and surely they've been at it for a while now....

How do we know that "answered prayers" are illusions? We simply perform scientific experiments. We ask a group of believers to pray for something and then we watch what happens. What we find, whenever we test the efficacy of prayer scientifically, is that prayer has zero effect:

It does not matter who prays.
It does not matter if we pray to God, Allah, Vishnu, Zeus, Ra or any other human god.
It does not matter what we pray about.
If we perform scientific, double-blind tests on prayer, and if the prayers involve something concrete and measurable (for example, healing people with cancer), we know that there is zero effect from prayer. Every single "answered prayer" is nothing more than a coincidence. Both scientific experiments and your everyday observations of the world show this to be the case every single time.

Don't hold your breath on Iraq.

You must understand this: God gave man free will! And free will gives man the ability to kill if he chooses! But the consequences for such action are severe! Bloodshed in Iraq will end when the killing stops! Its not this life that matters! Its life after! A true Christian will be looking forward to death! But a suicide bomber will see hell!

I'm praying more that they work out there problems poltically. Bloodshed should be on the Podium not in the streets.

Yes there are probably lots praying, but ot seems to be falling on deaf ears. Maybe they should start speaking out, and demanding it to be over with instead.

But the problem is that there are many that want this war to go on and are trying to do whatever they can to keep the fighting going. I hope to see peace soon also.

You have it backwards. The bloodshed will end when religion ceases to be and nobody prays. All the violence is religiously motivated.

Because prayer will not change anything.
God told us that he is going to let us do anything we want for 6 days (6,000 years), and then on the 7th day, he will return and take over everything.

Sad, isn't it--so many people want it to stop, but the few in power don't care--I keep waiting for bush to get sniped
