Absolutely. This is a hard forum to get to know people well.

I would feel bad SLAMMING anyone....if you mean on this forum, the interpretation of the word SLAMMING is usually defined by the individual who disagrees with you, though. But if I knew I was really out of line, I would apologize.

When that happens, I feel awful. I feel bad even if I just think bad thoughts about a person before I get to know them, just to find out that they are a nice person.

Yeah, I feel terrible when that happens.. Most of the time, if it's something contraversial..I try to say something at the end like, "Maybe I'm wrong, but it's just what I see from my perspective" or something, so if it offends someone or something, they hopefully will understand that I know I'm not perfect, and am bound to be wrong on some things, and might be incorrect on that.

I'm choosey about who I "slam"--usually they are good people but our viewpoints put us at cross purposes and the situation will never be remedied--I find myself more torn by the fact that they are good people and saying hurtful things than by my own decision to chastise them

It seems to me that the logical solution for this dilemma is to avoid slamming people.
