You can pink eye as many times as you come in contact with the infection. It is not like chicken pox whatsoever. You could put visine it may sting but then it feels good after and I think it kinda cleans it out. Also just put a warm cloth over the eye to sooth it but make sure nobody else uses this towel so they will not get it. Wash the surrounding eye area because you should try and keep it clean so it does not spread onto the other eye.

I Just Looked up Some of The Organisms, Which Cause Bacterial Conjunctivitis, "Heamophillus influenza" (Sp?) Subtype aegypticus, "Moraxella spp.", Others, From this I See One Getting Pink Eye From Several Organisms, but Developing Immunity to any One. I'm Sorry, for Tonight, Try Instilling a Little Triple-Antibiotic Ointment In Both Eyes. BTW, your Doctor Might Become Pissed At you for Doing this, Screwing Up a C&S (Culture and Sensitivity), but it is Probable to Have Great Positive Effect.

You sure can get it more than once! I've had it 6 times in 6 years!
The only thing that I remember doing to keep it from hurting so badly until I could get into see the doctor is keeping a cool wet washcloth on it. I tried eye drops, but they only hurt it more than helped. I found it helpful to use an eye dropper and just put a drop of really cold water into the eye about twice an hour, it didn't burn as badly as the eye drops did. Hope that helps!

No, you can get it as many times as you touch germs, and then put your fingers in your eyes!
For tonight, I would just wash it off really well (have her do it, so you don't get the germs: they're HIGHLY contagious), and have her get a good nights sleep. The dr will prescribe an antibiotic ointment that should get her on the road to recovery fairly soon!
I would also bleach down anything that she's touched, because, like I said, it's HIGHLY contagious, and you don't want everyone in the house suffering!!!

You can get pink eye several times and it is VERY contagious. You can get pink eye from allergies, virus & bacteria.
Viral conjunctivitis usually affects only one eye and causes excessive eye watering and a light discharge.
Bacterial conjunctivitis affects both eyes and causes a heavy discharge, sometimes greenish.
Allergic conjunctivitis affects both eyes and causes itching and redness in the eyes and sometimes the nose, as well as excessive tearing.
Giant papillary conjunctivitis (GPC) usually affects both eyes and causes contact lens intolerance, itching, a heavy discharge, tearing and red bumps on the underside of the eyelids.
Warm compresses may help soothe your eyes if you have viral or bacterial conjunctivitis until she can see the doctor tomorrow morning.
Doctors don't normally prescribe medication for viral conjunctivitis because it usually clears up on its own within a few days. Antibiotic eyedrops will alleviate bacterial conjunctivitis, whereas antihistamine allergy pills or eyedrops will help control allergic conjunctivitis symptoms. For giant papillary conjunctivitis, your doctor may prescribe eyedrops to reduce inflammation and itching.
