You'll definitely get some sort of aid as long as you fill out the FAFSA. Deadlines are different in different states, but you can start filling out the FAFSA as early as January 1st.

If you want to get an estimate of how much your Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) will be, the following website will figure that out for you:

You'll have to give some estimates about your income, but it will give you a good idea how much you'll get from the different universities. Remember, filling out the FAFSA will give you your EFC and then the government and the university will try to come up with the rest.

With your son and marriage, you would be consdidered an independent student at the undergraduate college level. It is someone who does not have to file for FAFSA under their parents' income since you are both married and have a child. I would give it a try to file for federal and state financial aid. In addition, I recommend searching for outside scholarships via a free membership scholarships search websites. I also recommend checking out at the library the scholarship book because there are scholarships listed in the book that are not on the web. Good luck!

Yes because your education is over half of your income and you have a child to support.
