Each police/sheriff's dept is different. You need to contact them and ask what their procedure is. Most reports stay on file a minimum of 2 years, so that should be ok. Some will ask you to fill out a request form, others print off a copy and hand it right over. Only a few make you subpoena the records - for certain cases. Again, it is not the same everywhere and most should do it without a charge.

Pretty much like the other posters have said - you must go to a station and request the report in person.

But before you go in person let your fingers do the walking. In some areas you cannot go to any police station or substation; you must make the request in person at the "main" station or police headquarters. You will usually have to pay a nominal fee and be prepared to produce proof of identification when you make your request.

Also, try getting online and checking out the official website for the police department where the report was made. In many instances they will provide detailed information on what must be done to obtain a copy of a filed police report.

Yes, call the PD where it was reported. You need the Date and it helps with the time. Of course the Job Number will make it even easire to find. Expect to pay a small fee.

You need to go down to the police department that answered the complaint and ask for it. They'll need the date and names of people involved. It should be simple.
