Since I am a single mom on a tighter then tree bark budget, I get things off season/after season or on clearence. They grow so fast that $40 for a pair of jeans is BS.

I think the most amount of money I've spent was on my youngest's converse all stars. I had to get him a pair because they are the cutest shoes and they are the only shoe I wear and I thought both my kids should have a pair. They were over $30 and that is a lot for a 2 yr. old's shoe. As for clothes, I don't normally spend a lot at all. I go for the discounts and I don't care if it is name brand or not. I'm not into buying clothes just because some dude stuck his name on it. That is just stupidity.

I really don't see the point in buy big name brand clothes. Kids grow so fast and not to mention play in dirt and such, that it's just a waste of money. Whatever is on sale or clearance at Wal-mart is just as good as anything else. The money you save can be put to better use for the kids later.

I get great deals at Marshalls and TJ Maxx for brand name clothes. I do not spend a lot on my kids clothes since they outgrow them so fast and get stains, holes etc. I do not buy cheap shoes though. I want their feet to have good support. I think the most I have spent on an outfit for under 6 is $25. As they get older, I will spend more when they will get more use out of them.

I spent about $65 on a little girl's outfit at Baby Gap . . . but I am the godmother and therefore don't have to fork out for ALL of her clothes, food etc. If I did there is no way I would have spent that much money on one outfit for a 4 year old.

I buy my kids clothes when they go on sale or clearance alot of the time. I also shop at the stores like Walmart so they are reasonably priced. Its crazy that some places charge alot of money for a piece of clothing that they are not going to fit for too long anyways. the most i spent on one outfit was $35. I like to buy them when they are sets too!

As stated, kids grow to fast to be spending loads of money on clothing for them, normally I just get what ever is on sale...
Now if it were up to my kid, she would shop only at second hand stores for her clothing, she loves getting into our local one, she knows basically what ever she wants in there she can have, its all very cheap, and you do get brand names in there, last week I picked up Roxy jeans for her, still with tags on it for $2, (they normally retail for $140) the clothing that they put out is all good quality, (kids dont stay in them long enough to wear them out)...she feels great walking out holding 4bags of clothing that we spent $20 on....
Not only do you get a bargain, but its fun shopping, and generally your helping out a local charity.

Hey, it's your child and your money. I am not a name brand buyer, but if that's what you like go for it.

My daughter is 3. I buy my daughters cloths at gymboree I can walk out spending $300.00. I also buy some at target. Depending where I take her. If we are going to go see family then she puts her nice outfit on. If we are going to the park and she is going to tare up the outfit I will put a cheap one on her. This way her nice outfits stay looking nice.

when kids are under six they mess up clothes and grow out of them fast..alot of people like to buy expensive clothes tomake a child look good..lol..which is silly cus kids look good in anything..but i prefer to buy the inexpensive variety, but when i do i make sure its long lasting and always buy a size bigger..i go to sotres like childrens place and old navy..i really llike their stuff and they are not expensive..
