I've tried using Windows Media Player numerous times, but I keep getting the same error message stating that there's a problem downloading the codec.

Where can I find the appropriate codec? Help!

Get VLC Media Player; it can play anything and it's completely free.
Get it here http://www.videolan.org/

Go to http://www.videolan.org/ and download the VLC media player file. left click on your video file and hit the VLC media player in the list. And play the video. P.S. have fun

or
Download the windows media codec pack from microsoft.
