If it is good enough for Mexico...then it's good enough for them to abide by.
I'm so tired of the hypocrisy...Sick and tired of the Politically correct mentality...
Everyone should commit to abandoning the "I'm sorry" behavior...always apologizing for being an American.

You're mistaken in some of what you list here. Friends of ours from the UK just bought a beach house in Mexico... they've lived there for six months now, have permanent residency, and neither speak fluent spanish. So obviously foreigners CAN buy waterfront property and don't have to speak the language.
From http://www.mexperience.com/liveandwork/immigration.htm
"You do not have to surrender your natural Citizenship to be granted full resident status in Mexico. Full resident status entitles you to all rights and benefits of a Mexican National (live, work, claim state benefits and to pay taxes) but you cannot vote in Mexican elections."
It may be difficult to get immigration approval initially.... but as you can see, the rights are protected for those who become residents just as they are for those who were born there. And legal residents in the US can't vote in elections either....they need citizenship for that.
The investment of 40,000 times the basic wage is for foreign investors who are NOT residents and want only to exploit the Mexican economy. Legal residents need an income of 400 times the minimun wage from a foreign source PRIOR to migration, but not after..... which is fairly easy to come by if American or British. Especially when you consider the minimum wage is less 44 peso's a day.... which is $4.08. If they're referring to a daily minimum wage, an American would need $1632 before they could move there... For British citizens, its 844 pounds. Big Deal.
If you are there illegally, its similar to here, except that its considered a felony. You may get up to a year in jail, however, you are usually fined and deported. Jail time is usually reserved for those who have committed an additional illegal offense while in Mexico illegally.
As you can see from the above immigration excerpt, state benefits, including welfare, is available to foreign legal residents as needed.
The only job restrictions are in bar/restaurant work.... have no idea why, the reason wasn't specified... but all other jobs are open to foreign residents equally.
And what difference does it make if electoral ballots are only in spanish??? Foreigners can't vote anyway.
I read some of your list on another website from an unauthorized source, and much of it is generalized, and applies to specific catergories.... such as visiting businessmen, holiday makers, ect. Nobody's disputing the fact that Mexican immigration is tough, and considering their criticism of American immigration policies, highly hypocritical....but you're list is NOT completely accurate or generally applied, and much of it is taken out of context. And how many people are jumping the fence to move to Mexico anyway?

I have heard many times about Foreigners buying land in Mexico, living there for a while then have their doors kicked in in the middle of the night and have all they own seized and the property being handed over to the goverment. the was a story on this on one of the late night news shows years ago, I don't remember if it was 20/20 or Dateline.
