I was just thinking today about the similarities between the religious and atheists. Both have some jerks who make others think the whole bunch is crazy. Both have some intersting educated people. Both have those devoted to book studies, both have those devoted to natural studies. Those who are heavily into science, think people are stupid looking more toward the spiritual, those heavily into the spiritual think people are stupid looking more to the scientific. Both sides tend to think the other "has no clue" Both sides may be influenced by those who have had formal study in the topics. Some may say "God has all the answers" and others may say "Science has all the answers" both religion and science have different theories or theologies from another...

Can you find any other similarities?

Both tend to "evangelize". Both argue with passion.

Yes - although I firmly believe in a "scientific" view of life and the universe, I don't discount that there is some value to a religious point of view. Religion, in my point of view, currently offers more reason for people to be ethical than science currently does, which is better for society as a whole.

They are both religions. Science mongers won't want to admit it, but they are people of faith. Faith in science. They believe that it if just a matter of time until science solves all the mysteries of the universe. They'll mount God's head on the mantle of evolution and drink a toast to their own brilliance.

and one day, one of the younger scientist is going to find and old book. He going to read and exclaim," Hey guys! Check this out! Some one figured this stuff out sever thousand years ago! "

Very good . . . my only exception to add to your list is there are very well educated religious people who don't see science as a contradiction to religion. There are fewer non religious people who can be accepting of being spiritual or religous since they see it as illogical.

I think both sides contain people who can be respectful and tolerance of the other side.

Not really much of a question, Well lets see now both think they are right, but that can't be. Oh that's really deep isn't it. Um I would say the one most obvious similarity is they are both sinners in need of a Savior.
