Hey, that's a great song. Here are a couple of passages I think are helpful when life gets stormy:
Romans 5:1-5
1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance;
4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope.
5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.'
Hebrews 13:3-6
'3 Remember the prisoners as if chained with them—those who are mistreated—since you yourselves are in the body also.
4 Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge. (You may want to skip v. 4, since it has little to do with your subject.)
5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
6 So we may boldly say:
“The LORD is my helper;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me?”'
James 1:2-4
'2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,
3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.'
If you don't want to use any of these, Psalms and Proverbs are just full of the kind of support and encouragement you mentioned!
God bless you! Have fun and sing good--I know your song will sound sweet to the Lord!

I'd pick some stuff from Psalm 91: It talks about God sending His angels to support you in Verses 11 and 12.
1 2 You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,
2
Say to the LORD, "My refuge and fortress, my God in whom I trust."
3
God will rescue you from the fowler's snare, from the destroying plague,
4
Will shelter you with pinions, spread wings that you may take refuge; God's faithfulness is a protecting shield.
5
You shall not fear the terror of the night nor the arrow that flies by day,
6
Nor the pestilence that roams in darkness, nor the plague that ravages at noon.
7
Though a thousand fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, near you it shall not come.
8
You need simply watch; the punishment of the wicked you will see.
9
You have the LORD for your refuge; you have made the Most High your stronghold.
10
No evil shall befall you, no affliction come near your tent.
11
3 For God commands the angels to guard you in all your ways.
12
With their hands they shall support you, lest you strike your foot against a stone.
13
You shall tread upon the asp and the viper, trample the lion and the dragon.
14
Whoever clings to me I will deliver; whoever knows my name I will set on high.
15
All who call upon me I will answer; I will be with them in distress; I will deliver them and give them honor.
16
With length of days I will satisfy them and show them my saving power.
They actually made a really pretty song out of this called 'On Eagle's Wings'. If you don't know it but really like Christian music, then you should listen to it. :) It's here,
http://my.homewithgod.com/heavenlymidis2/eaglewings.html
and the lyrics actually contain reference to God physically holding you
"And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His Hand."
Good luck with the performance, and God Bless!

How bout a short story Natalie, Jesus and I were walking along the beach and as I looked down I saw two sets of footprints (The One's that belonged to Jesus and the ones that belonged to me.) I kept looking and one set of footprints disappeared so I asked,"Lord why when I needed you most did you abandon me?" Jesus replied,"my child I never abandoned you the reason you only saw one set of footprints is because I picked you up and carried you. Thats how God works Natalie when we are down and feeling bad this is when God blesses us the Most. Hang in there God loves you so very much. You are in my pray's Natalie

Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I will fear no evil
For thou art with me.
Thy rod and thy staff shall comfort me.
Psalm 91:Verse10-11
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
For he shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
Job 5:Verse19
He shall deliver thee in six troubles; yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.

Although I don't know if it is a verse in the Bible, I would keep in mind "Footprints".
Jesus is always with us and there are 2 sets of footprints
when we are going thru the worst - there is only 1 set of footprints because Jesus is carrying us thru our pain.

Short and sweet: John 16:33
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

I believe this is the best one to sum it up. It is Philippians 4:13
Philip. 4:13 I can do all things through Christ, because he gives me strength. (NCV)

I would think Psalms 23:4....read it and see what you think? My fathers favorite one....Of course this is in the old testament, who knows what is in these new bibles, they distorted so much of it....
