My friend jsut recently recieved her driver's liscense. She said she only had to take the driving test, NOT the written part. But, I've been told that I must take a written and a driving test. But, when I took a driver's ed calss for summer school, we had a final at the end, does that count as the written test?

Only the Department of Transportation and your school would know for sure. Contact the school for your test results and ask them where they sent the results . Most states I know about do require both tests, however. Ask your school what other steps must you take to get your driver's license.

Your age is showing. I even have lived in approximately 5 states and have in basic terms had to take the wheel try as quickly as I first began driving. In CA i had to take the written try. back then you definately spent a minimum of four hours waiting in line. Take each and all the paper artwork you think of you may wish like INS and SS card and beginning record.

Yes, in most states you have to take both, written and practical. I have not seen ONE state that does not require some type of written. In my opinion, your friend is full of bull.
