Find out with this little test:

"If a man also writes with his left hand, as he writes with his right hand, he has committed abomination."

Is this sentence saying..
A) It is abomination for a right-handed man to also write with his left hand
OR
B) It is abomination to be left handed

Since it is obvious that the person is righthanded and says nothing of left handed people, the answer is A. So now look at this sentence and give your answer:

"If a man also lies with mankind, as he lies with a woman, he has committed abomination."

Is this Bible verse saying...
A) It is abomination for a man that lies with a woman (a heterosexual) to also lie with a man
OR
B) It is abomination to be homosexual

(HINT: This second question is identical to the first one, with only the subject changed)

LIVES - I think he made his point VERY clear.

ALEX - it is not he, but YOU who take the Bible out of context.

ATROPOSWHISPERED - You make good points, but it should be pointed out that two males fit together physically just as well as a male and a female, else there wouldn't be homosexuals at all.

SAMUEL H. BOWERS - Do not presume that just because you are not attracted to the same sex that it is therefore evil for someone else to be attracted to the same sex. The Bible clearly states that "There is no sin where there is no law," and nowhere in all of SCripture does it say that being gay or same-sex marriage is against God's law. Therefore you have ADDED to God's Law with your own biased opinion.

This question puts the Bible verse into perfect perspective, because it strips away personal biases and makes us look at the verse objectively. There is NOTHING in this verse that says being homosexual is abomination. It clearly shows that only heterosexuals are forbidden to lay with others of the same sex. Romans 1 echos this when it refers to men who LEAVE women for the same sex. Unlike homosexuals, heterosexual leave their nature by turning to others of the same gender, and THIS is what is condemned by Scripture. Homosexual men do not leave women for men - only a heterosexual man can do that, and it happens ALL THE TIME. Heterosexual Romans and Greeks, to whom Paul was writing, were notorious for having sex with other men. It's time that heterosexuals stopped corrupting the Bible by saying it condemns homosexuals when it in fact condemns the straights!

I am looking at the logic here. Course since I am a woman, I don't HAVE to be logical! If X=Z and Y=Z and yet X and Y are not the same, is not the man a politician? If a politician he can lie with either a man or a woman, as long as each does not know about the other. Makes sense to me, but I am left handed, so what do I know? Better to say "don't let the left hand know what the right hand is doing"

Peace.

The Bible is the root of all irrational guilt.

I'm left handed and I do not write with my left as I would with my right, simply because one hand is stronger than the other. If I wrote with both hands equally, I would be praised for having such a talent.

However, in many cultures and especially in Christianity, writing with the left hand has been frowned upon. People have lost their left arms or have had them bound just to stop the "devil hand" from being at work.

But it leaves to question, if my left hand is now considered a gift, why can't homosexuality? Maybe man can do with his left as well as he could with his right. But man could not do with man as he could with woman because it is quite obvious that man and woman have different parts, which are used in somewhat different ways. Perhaps it is simply a verse to say, "Don't have anal sex with women because that's what you do with men?"

I still believe that homosexuality was frowned upon in Biblical times simply because the mortality rate was high back then. At a time without birth control, homosexual acts are far too easy to turn to, rather than be responsible for a woman and a child.

I knowing lie with a gay man, as with a gay man, so I don't understand what the fuss is all about.

I'm thoroughly convinced that God made me gay, and people's opinions were placed in the bible.

Anyone with half a brain will know the answers to both are "A".

Straight people really have it hard in the bible, don't they?

Huh?!

First let's begin with something logical. What does bigotry have to do with any of this...interpretation of biblical writings.

I realize that you are trying to make a profound statement, but a word of advice...always speak clearly and directly the issue you want to make.

God Bless.

Uhm, so according to this logic, it is an abomination to be bisexual--not homosexual, no?
