"The meek shall inherit the Earth..."
For only by being meek will there be anything left to inherit.
For me being meek is to view the world around me with wonder and treat it with respect. I do what I can to do as little harm as possible and the greatest good.

Meekness is one of the fruits of the Spirit, as listed in Galatians 5:22,23. Jesus said "Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth." (Matthew 5:5) I believe it is that character trait in a person which makes him prefer others before himself - that trait where one is happy to see someone else promoted, or praised or win the trophy. It is that self-effacing attribute that doesn't greedily grab up everything it can for oneself, but would rather see others go first, and gladly takes the last place because he really believes he deserves no better than the last place. It is similar to humility, but can be distinguished from it. (They once gave me a badge for humility, but they made me give it back because I started wearing it)

Yes and do you know what? I love being meek. It's so easy, it's like you just give up everything to the Lord, you don't have to wander through life always trying to defend yourself or mouth off in defense of yourself. It's so much easier to say nothing and let God be your shield.

In the Greek New Testament, “meek” is from the Greek term "praus". It does not suggest weakness; rather, it denotes strength brought under control. The ancient Greeks employed the term to describe a wild horse tamed to the bridle.
In the biblical sense, therefore, it describes one who has channeled his strengths into the service of God.
I pray. I offer service to God and my fellow man. I try to practice ascetic theology.
