I wasn't going to answer but it seems some people think being humble is only a Christian belief

From Buddhist mind training teachings:

Cultivate love
Conceal your accomplishments
Praise others accomplishments
Reveal your own shortcomings
Do not reveal others shortcomings (unless with compassion)
Recognize all people as spiritual teachers
Take no pleasure in negative actions

I am involved with trying to learn more about this. Humility doesn't mean being lower than everyone, but it does mean you are not above everyone. It can even be humble to admit when you are better at something than someone else because false graciousness can lead to self-glorification. Humility is definately not self glorification, but it is not self degredation. Being humble is like being realistic, yet optimistic. I have much more to learn about this.

yes, to acknowledge God's existence and to obey and love him. Pride (opposite of humble) is the "original sin" meaning that adam and even chose to become their own masters by following their own desires instead of following God's rules>

To be humble is to be honest of your condition. You and me are sinners, and we're not God, and we can only be saved from hell by Jesus. That is the ultimate realization of humility and truth.
