Low self esteem. They have to think about themselves because they do not feel anyone else will, they need to put themselves above others as a matter of self validation.

People do what they can get away with...always testing the limits...if they can get way with doing bad things and saying bad things to others, then they will.
People can justify a lot of things in their own minds, and when they do...they don't see it as doing anything wrong...

entitlement. some people just have the idea that they are entitled to whatever they find pleasing to themselves. They EXPECT that they have the right to do things or have their way as they please regardless of others rights or even of the law. the most polite description for persons who act this way is, simply put, A s s h o l e
