My family and I despertaley need financial help. I am the main income earner. ( we have a 12 year old son) We thought like most americians that we were prepared. WE WERE WRONG. We had enough money in the bank for several months, home equity line of credit, life insurance, medical insurance and CC and a CD. I was injured last December 16th I have been unable to work and the doctors are not sure when I can go back. We have used up all savings. I received short term disablity. I have applied for disablity with the government. I tried to work from home doing collections and found out it was a scam we lost about $45 thousand on that. We have managed until this month. Now we can not pay our bills and I was told by social services that we fell threw the cracks. because: we were not illegal ailens, we had not just received our green cards, we had cars worth over 9600.00 usd.; & I had been a productive member of society prior to the accident. Now we are going to lose everything. PLEASE HELP!!!!

we are trying to sell cars, MY husband is retired and has had 6 surgeries in 4 years and unable to work. MY 12 year old is not allowed to work by law. I have applied for jobs but I can not set up straight nor can I stand for long periods even with the cane. I tried to work from home doing collections to bring in money. BUT IT WAS A fraud. I would gladly go back to work if I could. I can not treat people or anything else while i am on the medicine. thank you for the suggestions. This home has been in the family for 60 years. If they make us leave our home and we have no place to go they will take my son and place him in a foster home. HERE IN NJ BAD THINGS HAPPEN TO THOSE CHILDREN. It has not been easy to ask for help but I have to put pride aside and think about my family.

AND yes middle class americians fall through the cracks. thank you for the advise I have tried everything before I put this on yahoo. WE just need enough to get by for a couple of months. our mortgage is $1159.oo, home equity is !$1032.00, house hold bills come to about $2600.00 and miniums on CC comes to well over $5000.00 because we have been buying food and paying house hold bills and even home equity loan. The companies that I was doing collections for was Adam's charities and K&J art gallaries.

as far as losing the 45 thousand in fraud it was because the bank took over 3 weeks to notify us and by then we had sent the companies there moneies. AS SOON AS WE WERE ADVISED WE STOPPED CONTACT IMMEDIATELY. WE ALSO FILE A COMPLAINED WITH THE FBI

We inherited the house and had to pay my husband's sister her portion of the house. I have tried to borrow against my husband's social security and the banks will not allow you to borrow money against it. because we could not pay our bills based on his $1600.00 a month income. Thank you for your advise. I appreciate the fact that you took time to read and answer it. I actually think I have tried every agency and bank and credit people who help you reduce your debt. I have even called every credit card and advised them. there is no where to turn so I am praying that some one out there can help me.

I almost get the impression that you are literally asking people to donate money to you...

Sorry to say this but I think you are just one big fat liar !! I checked out answers you have given to questions asked by other people and it appears that you have 3PhD's, 2MBA's...you were working four months ago in finance with 84 people underneath you (which contradicts your question completely) and that you also have a son that is in college..isn't tuition kinda expensive for someone that is all but bankrupt? did you simply forget to mention that in your tirade of self pity? For a person that worked in finance for so long you sure know very little about it...and I seriously doubt you would have been scammed in the amount of $45,000 if you knew ANYTHING about it at all. You certainly wouldn't be running after scam-artist loans in yahoo answers.

You mentioned also (somewhere in your additions to the original question) that you are unable to treat people while you are on medication..tell me..how does a person so educated in the art of finance treat people?..it sounded very much as if you were talking in a medical sense? Incidently, there are times when your spelling and grammar are consistent with that of a fourth grader...hardly a good example of the kind of highly educated person you claim yourself to be..

I think that you are just another person seeking attention on the internet and you probably ARE completely broke..but when you tell lies to make up for all the inadequacy in your life it is difficult for others to tell if you are indeed serious about something..

My advice would be..quit lying, get a life, and get over it.

Since your husband is retired, you should be able to take a loan against his pension. This is not the greatest idea, but since you appear to be in desperate times, it might be the better of two evils. You will also be able to borrow against any 401(k) or retirement plans that you have.
You also mentioned a life insurance plan, you might consider borrowing against that.
Also, since your home has been in your family for 60+ years, I was just curious how you incurred a $1159 mortgage and $1032 HELOC? Have you contacted the family member that sold you the home for a personal loan? I would see if any other family member is willing to purchase the home and you rent it, until you are able to get on your feet.
I know this all sounds like you are putting yourself in further debt, but I am not sure what other advise I can give you.

Stay away from people like the one at the bottom also offering you quick loans for low interest rate, it's a scam he asks for money before you even see anything, and what type of loan company offers no term of loan papers. I am in the same situation, and no one has offered an advice except for the sign up for survey websites , that's fine if you have a computer and a place to live to do it out of. They don't understand that we are one step away from homeless. I have also tried everything to no luck, I am shocked and disappointed that these people are so quick to judge, and so quick to condem someone for asking for help. They don't understand that when it comes to family, if it means begging as they call it then so be it. I truly am sorry for your situation and offer the only advice I can, is to keep your head up and stay strong.

As far as Social Service Dept.s are concerned, you cannot have a car with equity worth over a certain amount (Example: Connecticut is $10,000.00, I believe) and still be eligible to collect many benefits like Cash Assistance and Food Stamps. Social Security Disability usually takes a minimum of 6 months to get approved if you have a disability that is completely permanent or will result in your death. I have seen cases where it took 2-3 years to get SSDI and I have see PLENTY of denials. You could possibly sell your cars and buy less expensive models in order to qualify for state assistance. I still don't understand how you could have possibly lost $45,000.00 dollars on a "scam"- that's quite an extreme amount of money. Be warned that anything that sounds to good to be true, probably is. You may also want to speak with a financial advisor to see what bills (credit, etc) you could consolidate to lower your payments.
Your best bet is to hound the Social Services Dept in your area until you get somewhere. Go onto their website and research, research, research!! You have to be your own advocate and the louder (and more annoying you are), the quicker they may be inclined to help you, just to get you out of their hair. Good luck!

contact the Legal Aid Society in your State and they will give you a local number to call.

Yes, I think you do need to declare bankruptcy but I think you need to contact the State Attorney General and ask them to investigate the company the did the job fraud on you and also get a lawyer to take the case on contingency to reclaim the money.

Contact Social Services in your town to get food stamps and welfare until you can get back on your feet.

Contact area chuches for help. I know the Mormon church is very good about helping people.

Stay away from Cash Create and other survey Web sites!

It's a waste of time and will cause you unhappiness.

If you choose to get suckered in and sign up to take surveys and receive free trials considered you were warned. The minute you give them your personal information you open your computer to unwanted cookies on your hard drive, annoying pop-up windows and if you are on a PC you open your computer to viruses that can wipe you out.

whatever you do DO NOT claim bankruptcy
that is one of thee worst things you could do, because it solves nothing
you will pay for it for a long time(you will not be able to get loans, credit cards, etc.)
somebody needs to start working in your immediate family, and you might want to consider downsizing homes and cars
minimize spending, and try not to depend on loans
sorry but thats all the advice ive got

Your spouse needs to find a job and support your kid. Move to a smaller house or apartment, temporarily so that you can save money to buy another house in the future. and also one word: budget. asking relatives for loans is also a suggestion.
