Atheists don't all believe the same thing, just like Christians. Some believe you live the best possible life here and now so that when you are on your death bed you do not feel the need to beg forgiveness for your behavior in life. Some believe that people who fear an imaginary being who wears white flowing robes and punishes you if you do not believe as the preacher tells you to believe are brainwashed.
All of us know for a fact that morals do not come from a book, they come from inside your concience. The feelings of love and hate present in all men has helped us all understand right from wrong.
Personally I would like to believe there is a God...for a very good reason, I would like to live forever. I, like most people, do not want to die, so I hope there is a higher power. I know for sure if there is one he will not be so petty as to allow only baptized Christians into heaven and send all others to hell. That is what I think most atheists would agree with.
None of us will actually know for sure until the time comes.
Peace.

Atheists "believe" in the innate goodness of humankind. They do not see the need for an "outside source" (i.e. God) to compel a person to be good. They do not follow any book, if you mean something like the Bible or the Koran...they follow the laws of decency and of their country. To be an antheist basically means that you do not believe in a Supreme Being of any kind. Most athiests are very scientific and literal minded. Most athiests are also more fair, more understanding of others beliefs, and more tolerant than many who confess to believe in a God who, supposedly, ultimately judges their behavior.

If Atheists believe in Laws, where do those laws come from and why do you worship them and bow to them. That MAKES you religious! It makes the Police and Judge GOD.

You still FEAR a God. Maybe it's not "sky daddy" but you FEAR some entity, some diety that is SUPERIOR TO YOU.

Which means you consider yourselves inferor. Penentant.

When GOD speaks, you listen, obey and fear, for GOD can make you give up $500 from your checking account for Reckless driving!

God can put you in the Big House for beating that Christian to death outside the bar while intoxicated. Or for hitting a person walking on the shoulder of the road late at night. Manslaughter will still get you 1 - 2 in the big house!

And the THOUGHT of going to HELL for your SINS scares you to death.

You are no different!

You just like to think you are!

Atheism is defined only by an absence: An absence in belief in any God. From that root can spring all manner of other thoughts, but they are almost always non-superstitious, not based on faith in the supernatural, and focused on human potential rather than human sinfulness.

It's not like we're an organized bunch like the Southern Baptists or the Roman Catholics. There is no Atheist Pope. If someone tried to become one, they'd be dethroned forthwith.

It's very simple. You don't believe that there is a man living in a cloud who never shows up. Just use the law of doing the right thing. You never harass people to try to get them to believe that their beliefs are wrong and that yours are right. You save money because there is no collection basket.

They don't believe in god, and that is all they have to be able to say to be atheists.

Most think rationally, wanting evidence in order to believe in or accept something.

But, there are some that believe aliens created the earth. Some think there's an afterlife. Some are Buddhists - certain brands of Buddhism require no god belief. Some believe in ghosts, psychics, and any number of other things.

Secular moral systems for the most part, it varies and it isn't uniform. Some are Kantian and some are utiliatarian.

The closest thing to a bible would be the online skeptic's bible but I doubt most atheists know of it. Atheism isn't an organized religious system, let alone a unified moral one.

Believe me! Atheist are the modern day 'Hypocrites' who believe in anything else other than the existence of God, and the denial too is simply without any logic behind.

Atheism has never been able to prove the non existence of God and has only raised a 'confused lot' who fail to understand simple things around.

atheists have the same laws you do.
god doesn't punish murderers, people do.
god doesn't punish rapists, people do.
if we left punishment up to god and through away the laws that we people have gotten together and enacted and upheld by law/force, then murderers would get away with their crimes.
witness any country where there is a breakdown in law enforcement. god doesn't step in and save people...eventually, we do that.
hope that helps.

I think, first off, you may be implying that because someone is not religious they might be 'lawless'. If you are a pious person then you are aware you have no right to cast judgement. Think about that before posting this kind of thing.
