High Definition Television - supposed to be the epitamy of TV now!

in HD TV there are a greater number of lines of resolution on the screen than normal TV transmissions. This generally makes the image clearer, have more contrast and can show up finer details. It also allows for a better 'wide screen' like in the movies, type feel of movies that are broadcast in HDTV.

As far as your card that says support HDTV, it just means it can decode the extra lines of resolution. But... you need to have an High Definition Television Screen to see any better image quality. You won't get any difference if you are using a normal TV.

Some satellites can broadcase HDTV signals but again you need to have a an actual HDTV screen, either plasma or LCD type is the usual.
