White is a good choice, although some use black for absorbing or banishing negative energy. If you are looking for protection from a negative spiritual entity, I would also highly recommend frankincense, the real stuff burned on charcoal, not just a scented stick. I've also had excellent results with amulets, there are very good descriptions on how to make two different amulets for this purpose in the book: "Monsters: An Investigators Guide To Magical Beings" by John Michael Greer.

White candles are generally used fo protection; but really, I think you're safer with a dog, some prayers, and a burglar alarm. Candles get knocked over easily and are some of the most common factors in emergency-level housefires.

if you surround your kids in light then what ever you think is after them will see where to find them...... don't mean to be rude but your children would probably be safer if you checked in to getting your self some mental help. please don't light candles you might burn your house down and no one needs that........
