Sometimes I think I was a better Christian when I was still an Atheist. Seriously.

I don't care what your religion, or if you have none. There is one thing that we all need to do to make the world a better place. And if the world is a better place we will all enjoy the gift of life. And it is a great gift to be enjoyed. There is so very much suffering in the world. Everyone has a part and obligation to help our fellow human beings. Just ask yourself in everything that you do "Am I being Loving", if the answer is no, don't do it. If Yes, do it twice.

Peace.

There are many religions that teach people to be good people. Even people who are not religious at all can have value systems that teach them to be good people. If this life was all there was, then any of these religions would do. However, because eternal life is at stake, and the rest of the universe is without sin, humans have to be without sin as well to keep from contaminating the rest of creation with sin. There are only two ways to be without sin, live a perfect life of obedience, or accept Christ life of obedience in your place. Because all have fallen short and sinned, the only option, if you want to live forever, is to accept the sacrifice that Jesus made for you.

So, the issue is not being a good person, although that is important. No human being save one, Jesus Christ, has good works adequate to fit them for eternal life in a sinless environment. The issue is, will you accept Jesus' death in your place so that you can live forever. The natural response to Jesus' love should be good works.

Well I wish that I could say that every Christian should answer because they are Christian.Anyone who is a Christian is supposed to be a good person but it hasn't worked out like that.We have too many so called Christians judging and discriminating others for not being Christians.Christians are supposed to be "Christ-like" meaning following His example.I am going to answer both because I am a Christian but I am a Christian because I want to be a good person.

I am so glad that you asked that question. We by nature are not good. Christians and non-Christians are by nature the same people. There is only one difference. Jesus Christ. See God says that there are no good people, no not even one person is good by God's standard. When I received Christ into my heart as my Lord and Savior, I was declared righteous before Him and it was not because of something that I have done, but because God saw the blood of Jesus Christ covering my sins. That is why God sees us as righteous and the lost as not righteous. Its not because God loves us more than He loves you. God loves you just as much as He loves us but with us He is well pleased that we have received His only Son into our hearts and we have accepted eternal life as His gift to us. I hope and pray that God will move your heart and I say that because just because you wanted to know what i had to say shows that He is already working in you. Have a good day!!!

This is largely pointless unless you consider who has the right to decide what is good and what is not. If there is a God who created you, then He alone has that right, and no one else's opinion matters, including yours. God will not excuse me for flying an airplane into a building just because it seemed right to me.

A Christian believes the Bible contains truth of who God is and what He expects of us. Thus, the Bible is their authoritative source for truth about what is good and what is not.

God gave us freedom of choice. We are good because we choose to be good. Life is always a choice. We direct our own life play; for we are the one making the choices. I am good because I want to be. It brings me great joy to do the "right" thing. I know that I am closer to my creator when I am choosing goodness. I am at peace with myself, I am in harmony. If I chose a different path then my conscience bothers me and moves me to the right path. I've learned that living close to my conscience,( letting it be my Guide), is the true path to inner peace. Being a "good" person is to live according to conscience.

I try to be good, but I'll never be good enough to not need God's saving Grace. In other words, I'll always be 'only human'.

My advice on goodness would be to give to those in need, be kind, show the same respect and tolerance you would want, be forgiving, and be patient. Nothing new, nothing unique to Christianity.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart with all your mind and with all your strength and love everyone as you love yourself.....try to keep the commandments....pursue God....read His word....learn more about Him....but as Christians we mess up a lot too, but our sins are forgiven.....but we still repent and try to do better to glorify God in what we do
