Um first off, you've only been dating seven weeks. My brother and his wife have been married for seven years and neither of my parents expect gifts from her although they love her dearly.
Your parents probably shouldn't be getting him a gift and you SHOULDN"T be getting his parents gifts. I mean really if you've met them more than a handful of times I would be suprised. Christmas isn't about gifts anyway. Does this guy show you respect along with your parents? IF yes let all fo this other crap that isn't important go...and your parents probably don't expect gifts from him especially if you guys are younger as in below 30.

First, its very, very rude of your parents to expect a gift. No one should "expect" a gift. You give gifts because its from the heart - not because its expected.
Now, on the other hand...a box of chocolates is a very nice touch and inexpensive. Its a nice thank you for welcoming him into their home. A gift from a bf of 7 weeks...very not necessary.

It's appropriate for the parent's to get him a gift and inappropriate for him to get them one after 7 weeks. He should give your family a card. Next Christmas, if you're still together, add the parents to the list.

It would be a nice touch if he was to purchase them a little something for Christmas. I'm sure that they would appreciate even a small token like a box of their favourite chocolates or a CD. He doesn't have to get extravagant but just a small gift to show he likes them and their daughter.

He doesn't need to get them gifts. Maybe a card, but no gifts. And don't get his parents gifts. It's only been a couple months. Come on.

I don't feel he should give them a gift, but maybe get them a nice card. Your parents sound very generous, but that's a considerable amount of money.

A card and maybe a very small gift may be appropriate, but not much more than that.

tell him do the right thing and get them a gift . and tell your parents what he plans to do , so they won;t spend so much on him. and you do the same with his parents , don;t get them anything.

I would say no, but everyone is buying each other stuff, so yeah. But what did they spend $50 on him for? Also, remember that he might not have much money and is spending it on you.
