there is a reason for your depression, and you are the only one who knows what it is. it might be self inflicted or caused by someone else, but deep down, you know what it is. easy to say and hard to do but get rid of it. ive been thru it more than once. what i did was quit feeling sorry for myself and went out and had some fun. you can build a wall between you and others and not even realize it. no one wants to be around a sad person. ill bet you dont. try doing something different, something that is not normal for you, it could help.talk to others, you might learn something. just like i learned from you, how to say A S S and not get it bleeped.

Sadness and blues are not necessarily depression. Depression is a clinical medical condition. The former are simply 'moods,' not a mood disorder.

If it's something that's not normal for you, then maybe there's a chance it's something other than clinical depression. Sometimes there are physical causes of such moods, and once the physical cause is treated and eliminated, the bad mood is eliminated with it. That's what I'd hope for you, since I've had depression for many years, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

But the only way to find out is by being seen by a professional. I would first go to your doctor to eliminate any possible physical causes. Even if your doctor doesn't find anything, go get a second opinion. You don't want to make the assumption that it's depression, begin getting treated for it, only to find out later that it was unnecessary.

In the meantime, I'll include some links below that may be of help in finding an answer.

Good luck.

To be honest I would talk to your doctor about this right away. Your doctor can recommend a good therapist to help you with your depression. There are also medication that helps treat depression. Depression is something that you or know one else can treat on their own, you must seek professional help. I looked depression up online and it says its a serious medical condition that needs to be treated right away. Depression is not something that can be fixed simply by getting an answer on here. Even the best answer won't fix your depression. I took the time to research some good websites that may help guide you in the right direction. I will list the links in the sources section. I wish I could give you a better answer. I wish you well on your full recovery.

Good for you for posting this question - it means that you are aware of feeling down and WANT to do something about it.

I have also felt alone in a crowded room.

I don't know how you feel about G-d, but that loneliness, for me, is a spiritual aloneness. When you feel close to G-d, that 'hole' goes away. I don't get those feelings any more.

Can you meditate - on beautiful scenes you remember from things you have seen? Bring them back with all five senses - hearing, seeing, feeling, smelling, tasting.

Now I can bring beautiful scenes back very vividly by practising a lot of visualizations. They become very real and comforting.

Count your blessings. You have the ability to type, your spelling is great, you have a computer, you have amazing intelligence, you are obviously a good person, trying to be better. Validate all these positives and focus on them. They are real. When depressed we tend to focus on negatives.

What we concentrate on 'grows'. So if we concentrate on the good that will grow. (if we concentrate on the negatives, that will grow.) So be good to you.

Take care.

Tell your family Doctor how your feeling. He will prescribe an antidepressant,if it don't work go back and get something else.Depression is no different than an infection, but just as dangerous.Your brain sends out chemicals to deal with depression just as your brain sends out white blood cells to deal with infections. When your brain fails to deal with the problem ,you go get Anti- biotics or Anti-depressants.It is just that simple, but many people think it is a psychological problem and don't go, and eventually it become psychological. It is a physical problem now,so go before it gets worse, please.

My cousin was depressed for about 5 months, and the one thing that actually helped him was the exercising...he hated it, but we would drag him out with us to run...The most important thing is to make sure you don't feel alone, because loneliness can lead to other negative emotions...You should talk to someone who can just sit there and listen to you, you'll feel loads better, trust me. I found the wall a great friend to talk to...isn't that disturbing? Good luck!

Don't worry, I've dealt with the same thing. I would try to think about some of the things that make you happy and write them down. Also, you should write in a journal to keep track of your feelings. That's how I fought off my depression.

everyone feels depressed every once in a while. what do you think about the most. if you think about a specific thing more than others, it could possibly be about that. like money, or the opposite sex, or family. if you can figure that out. you can probably fix it and the depression
