OK, here are my thoughts. I would purchase an LCD over a plasma, simply due to the technology involved. LCD (liquid crystal display) technology has been around for a long time. Plasma is simply a gas. I inquired about plasmas, and was told that the gas is held inside tiny little pockets that make up the screen. When the gas burns out...there goes your TV. Not rocket science, right? But heres the tricky part. You only get like 6500 (estimated) hours of viewing time on a plasma...and they are MORE EXPENSIVE. The other option that you havent listed was DLP which stands for digital light projection. Not to be confused with the rear projections of early big screen fame, these guys are good, but still have a bit of a way to go for good clarity on a larger picture. All in all, right now I would go for the LCD. Oh, and if you are worried about resolution...go with 1080i for now. 1080p is nice, but unless you are gonna spend money on the gadgets that support it...its not worth it...and most cable companies dont support it.

My son just moved into a new house and bought two new TV's. One was plasma and the other was LCD. Personally, I think the LCD is a better picture. (I can't wait to get one for myself!)

liquid crystal reveal and plasma are extraordinarily close, the two are able to stunning photos. One great element approximately liquid crystal reveal is that it particularly is proof against reveal burn-in. Plasma monitors are nevertheless susceptible to burning any nevertheless pictures into the reveal, including in case you bypass away the reveal on pause for prolonged circumstances, or play a video interest, with a variety or different unchanging reveal in the corner. i could easily stay removed from DLP television's myself. they're extra low priced than different HDTV's, however the image can fade out whilst seen from the part, like older rear-projection units. DVI is stable, yet HDMI is changing it at as quickly as. the two DVI and HDMI have an analogous image high quality, the two digital. HDMI in basic terms is going the extra advantageous step and provides digital audio alongside an analogous cable, which not in basic terms makes hookup less demanding, yet additionally could save you a pair of greenbacks on cabling expenses, looking on your hookup. many makers are already steerage removed from DVI, in choose of HDMI. You stated you have a computer you're able to elect to hookup. Many new HDTV's also have a VGA enter, making it very easy to hookup a working laptop or computing gadget, and get the superb image available from it. in case you will discover one with that already, that would artwork nicely for you.
