I think many believe in the scales with the good deeds trying to outweigh the bad (thus all the works versus grace arguments), others seem to believe if you were repentent in your final act prior to death it erases all?

I simply believe we will be judged by our actions and the desires of our heart. No one will be perfect, but Christ will be able to step up and claim us with our imperfections because he knows the intents of our heart and through that act of grace we will be saved.

Midge: excellent point. I am talking about the final judgment.

Earl D: no reward except completing whatever my earthly mission may be. I just see from various answers that people have different ideas on how judgment will be.

The Bible teaches if you receive Christ as your savior, you have already been judged, because the wrath due for your sins was meted out on Him. "Truly, truly I tell you, he who hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life, and DOES NOT COME INTO JUDGMENT, but has passed out of death into life (John 5: 24)
BUT: "And I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, the great and the small standing before the throne, and books (or scrolls) were opened; and another book (scroll) was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books (scrolls), according to their deeds .... and if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire" (Revelation 20:11-15)

However there is also a judgment of Christians before the judgment seat of Christ (Romans 14:10 and II Corinthians 5:10); but it will not result in damnation, but rather commendation for good deeds and reproof for bad deeds)

God has a book of life. God makes up the rules. God makes the decisions. The Bible says you must honor your father, so I don't Jesus is going to go up against God for anyone.

God's criteria is for a reason. They may be perks or benefits of belieiving in Jesus or being a Jew, but ultimately and for some unknown reason God has a set of rules already in mind that will come into play.

Are you in this for some reward! I thought the reward was doing good and doing as God and Jesus wanted. Isn't that enough, you want more, you demand more, like you wouldn't have lived a good life if God told you up front you wouldn't get into heaven. What, you'd fornicate, turn gay, rob, steal, pillage, rape, become a heroin addict.... What would you have done if God told you you weren't on the list!

I believe that judgement day will be the exact way that the Bible tells us it will be, and we will be judged the exact way the Bible tells us that we will be... Although your right and God does know our hearts, and we are all not perfect and never can be, and all sin... We have to ask for forgivness of our sin's and repent and accept Jesus as our savior.... Along with doing that we have to make a valid effort to change our lives and everything that is in them... Threw Christ is the only way, and if he is not in everything that we do then he is not with us.... Our works for the Lord is not a part time job it is a everlasting job... We will be judged according to our works... Not by if we mean to do good but don't... Anyone can say well i no that Jesus is real and i believe in God and in there hearts they may really believe that but that is not enough they have to live that also.... There will be a whole lot of good deeded people who ment good burning in the bottomless pit of fire and brimstone with Satan himself....

There are several judgments but I am going to assume you mean the judgement of believers. We will be judged according to our deeds here on earth and be awarded a crown to lay at the feet of Jesus. We will be judged and shown our missed oppurtunities. Jesus will show us how our lives would have been if we had did everything according to his will.

The final judgment is an invention of the religion to control the society by fear.
If God is love, what is the reason to punish people by sending the "bad" ones to Hell?

We are saved by His grace, what Jesus did on the cross is justice for those who belong to Him. We will however be judged on the good we did as Christians.

Those who are without Jesus, are judged already and will be cast into the lake of fire for ever and ever. The fire never goes out, weeping and knashing of teeth. PAIN is the result of justice for their sins.

interesting question and thanx for the mail about this question, here is how it is, and i say thats because this is how th ebible says it is and the bible is the only authority.
if you know god and god knows you, then when the day of final judgement comes he will say, i know this one, he/she is mine let him/her in. regaurdless of the good and bad deeds they have done in their life. you are saved by grace not works. lets say i was saved today, and for the next 5 years i slip from god, and do all kinds of bad things and do not ask forgivness. yes this makes god sad, but does not loose my salvation. i die, and i go to heaven god will still say i knwo this man, let him in. even tho my life living for god has been a disgrace. you can not in any way loose your salvation. it is impossible. once saved always saved, that is what the bible teaches. any other book if false when it comes to teaching this. HOWEVER if you are saved then you willw ant and striveto do his will, aka good deeds. but if you do not, you will still go to heaven.

The judgement right after you die is just you and Jesus and anybody else he wants to involve, but, the judgement at the end of time everyone will know about what you did and what you did not do. He will either defend you or he will not defend you it depends on who you served during your life.

If you get saved at the altar of a Baptist preacher you will get a free pass on Judgment Day. And it makes things easier for Jesus cause he'll have millions of people to judge that day. Anything you can do to ease the conjestion will be appreciated.
