Well first off, they are going to run a drug dog outside of your car. If the dog alerts on any contraband, then they will search it regardless. HOWEVER: and this is a VERY big one: IF you do not let them search the trunk, they cannot search it UNLESS the dog alerts on that area of your vehicle. ALSO: if your glove box is locked, it is off-limits. They need to acquire a search warrant to search that area ONLY if it is locked. And unless you have a bloody knife dripping out of the cracks, chances are, they wont get one. Other answer: If you have nothing to hide, why not let the morons search? :)

They either decide that it is not worth the trouble or they detain you until they can get a warrant and then they search it. By refusing to give your permission it will not stop it from happening it just makes them have to do their entire job. As far as having an effect on the outcome of any charges you may get as a result of the search ( like if they find something incriminating) you should probably ask a lawyer how to handle this not just anybody and definatly not a cop.

They may call in a drug dog if one is available, if the dog barks at a certain part of the car, they can search for cause.

They will look closely in the windows, and search around the area where the driver is sitting ( allowed to do that still)
if they find something there, then they have cause to search entire car.

They will see if there is a reason to arrest the driver, then they can impound the car, and would have to inventory the car to be sure everyone is accounted for.

They can do a "plain sight" search. In fact they are doing that while they are talking to you. Thats why the flashlight is shined all over the car while they are talking to you.

If you say no and they have probable cause to search the vehicle, they can get a search warrant. But, if you are arrested, they can search the vehicle without your consent.

Then they search it anyway, but are limited to the areas in the driver's direct control, which means the trunk is off limits. If they still want to search that, they'll probably arrest you and haul the car off to Impound until they can get a warrant to open the trunk.

bypass forward, I even have not something to conceal, usually in the event that they ask it somewhat is barely to be certain their protection. working example no count if it somewhat is previous due at nighttime and that they pull you over for a site visitors violation they don't choose to would desire to hassle approximately knives or weapons etc. bypass forward provide me the thumbs down, this is not any super deal in case you have not something to conceal. on the different hand while you're a style of gang-banging losers than i'm able to be sure why you may say no. would not count, interior the tip in the event that they choose to seek it they'll. possibly you have been driving a sprint inconsistently and that i think of which you are going to have alcohol on your breath=probably reason= reason to seek. Use your mind's eye, in the event that they somewhat need to seek your motor vehicle they'll, in case you refuse there's a probability that your motor vehicle could be impounded till a warrant is issued(see above), in basic terms save your self the situation, one speedy sweep with the aid of and your on your way if there isn't something unlawful. half-hour out of your life(tops) no super deal, recover from it

the very act of you telling the officer he/she cannot search your car will give the officer reason to suspect you have something in the car you do not want them to find-so they will search it anyway-here in the UK no search warrant is required. if the officer has reason to beleive you are breaking the law then he/she will search the car right there in the street.

They will find a reason to develop reasonable suspicion and search it anyway.

The 4th amendment does not apply to a vehicle. If an officer has reasonable suspicion (and trust me they will) they can search your vehicle (trunk included). The Supreme Court has ruled and stated the 4th amendment DOES NOT apply to a vehicle and the same expectation of privacy one has in his home should not be expected in a vehicle.
