Because you are complete idiot. Even when I was 13 and the pathetic recruiters came to the high school, I knew it would be a bad choice. I did not need to expose myself to the nonsense to realize that the whole system is a farce. I mean why are they going to teach me to fire a gun for? Ummmm.... obviously to make someone die. Not a good thing. Why are they offering me money for? There must be other get rich quick plans out there. Not a good thing. Why am I going to be fighting for anyways? Unintellegent testosterone fueled human wastes say so.
As I got older they tell me to support the troops. I have to, they take out an absurd amount of money from my hard earned check a week. Then I read and see that former service personell kill their kids, wife, themselves and I think "Hey, I want my money back, with the highest amount of interest compounded daily as allowed by the law(that I paid for as well to pass). Then I hear you stupid chumps complain about your decision and I say to you- "Where is my money?"

I hate to agree with you but more and more soldiers are feeling this way.
And if anyone wants to say you are wrong, they can get their uniform and their boots on and head to Iraq.
You have the right to your opinion. You have the right to express your opinion. And I value you opinion more than all the jokers on here trying to get attention.
As a former soldier, I thank you for serving. The militay used to be honorable, but it has fallen down a deep dark hole with its top leader first in the file.
We must find a way to stop this war. It will never work. Even if we hand Saddam, someone just like him will take his place. Even if we bomb all of Iraq, the other Arab countries will fight back. Even if we track down every terrorist out there, tenfold will follow.
There is only one way to stop it all. Pull out, let them solve there own problems, use our military to watch our borders, and work with the UN on diplomacy and changing the way the world now views the USA. We need to work at one to achieve world peace.
Thank you again.

Well, here's the thing to bear in mind. It isn't the military that lost any of those. Doesn't it suggest something to you to consider that you say we "lost" Korea but we're still there? How can this be?
What you need to think about is the bumper sticker I saw recently.
"I served in Vietnam. We were winning when I left"

If you really wanted to see what defending this country is about you should have gone USMC
or US Army and jumped out of good airplanes.
The air force is practically a country club compared to these two.

This is the military, do as you are told, and ask questions later... or not at all. You are a lap dog, plain and simple. You'll do stupid, and often one sided missions. This is our history, we are politic pushers. If a country is doing something we object to, we make a stand. It's arrogent, and it's probably the whole reason so many foreigners don't like our government. Alas, this was a decision made because of Pearl Harbor. Nutrality got us into trouble once, and they didn't want it to happen again. Because if you allow a problem to build, it'll even consume the nutral parties.

You say that working for the government is easy. So I don't know who or what changed your mind about your service but rethink your position.
In any case, I thank you and respect you for serving our country.
