You are trapped in an abandoned house in a snow storm. The snow has blocked your only way out. You are going to be here for awhile, and its cold and dark. You have 1 match left. On the table is a candle. There is dry wood in the fireplace. There is a lantern on the wall for light. Which do you light first?

the match! and then the candles cuz then i could walk and explore the house while I'm trapped there a good way to not get bored! and after I've done my exploring I would use a napkin to transfer the light to the fireplace and lantern!

I believe it's unanimous; you light the match first. Then the fireplace, lantern and candle (using a stick/small piece of wood from the fireplace).

You didn't explain this very well as I am certain you messed up on parts of it, but I guess man D knows what he is wearing and does so by the process of elimination. He is the only one who can see what two of the four men are wearing. There is a 2 in 3 chance that men B and C are wearing the same colour hat, which would mean man D would be wearing the colour they aren't. edit: Jack apparently didn't read or pay attention to the conditions listed in number 5. Here it is in case he or others who thumbed him up bother to read this edit: 5. all four of them are tied up in a chair and are made not to hear any sound nor say anything to the other men. C wouldn't hear D say anything no matter what. Condition 3 makes it so that there isn't some two-way mirror or opening in the wall so that either he can look at the others or the others can look at him. Therefore, man A cannot deduce anything about the colour of the hats the others are wearing and condition 6 states he doesn't know the colour of his own hat. This removes man A as a candidate. Man B is in the same predicament as man A in that he doesn't know the colour of his own hat nor can he deduce anything by looking at anyone else's, since he is facing away from the other two on the side of the wall with him and can't see man A. Man C can only see man B's hat, so cannot eliminate anything from that to determine the colour of his own hat. This leaves man C with the best chance of deducing the colour of his hat. Of course, we could assume that since nobody is sitting in front of man B then maybe he could lean forward enough for the hat on his head to topple off in front of him so that he could then take a look at it. This strategy wouldn't apply to man A since condition 6 states he doesn't know the colour of his hat.
