I agree with you, if it's major then it makes sense to get surgery done. But if it's minor then all I can say is stop looking at those fashion magazines! those models are not that beautiful if you take away the makeup and photoshop touch up!
And I think God probably created the not so perfect looking people for a reason. To deal with it is to please God! :)

Its true GOD has created everyhting perfect. But then why do we see people born with defects?
Almighty GOD has created this life as a test for us all. The major purpose is " Do we really thank HIM even if HE created us with a defect? "
Check out this example. In any examination, if the question paper was made very difficult in comparison with the normal standards, then the correction is made a bit leniant. And the vice-versa.
Similarly those who are born with any defects, will not be questioned about their handicapped organs. But our case, we will be questioned about each and every organ. How did we use our eyes? ears? hands? Did we misuse our power to hurt someone?
As far as implants and surgeries are concerned, the Islamic law is clear in its stand that if the life of the person is at stake, then he can do any artificial surgery to save his life. But the implants done for cosmetic purposes is not allowed as you are playing with GOD's design and you mean to say that GOD made a mistake in making you of this shape.

God doesn't create everything perfect. Only God is perfect. If we were perfect, we would not have to worship God.
That being said, everything God creates is sacred. That is why we should not murder, that is why we are the stewards of the earth (2:30) and most importantly, that is why God sent us the holy books and the Qur'an.
This is a very tough question to answer. Certainly, cosmetic surgery is a matter of free will. But I wouldn't do it. I got tattoo's before I converted to Islam and while I don't regretted them, I wouldn't do it again. My body is unique and made for me and my soul. Altering it only alters its' purity.

I agree with you. Only in recent times has it become so popular to have plastic surgery. Before people didn't think about it much. One time I saw this tv preacher talking about "growing old gracefully" and how that was what God wanted us to do. Then , a few months later, she had a facelift, and other body work done. So much for God's creating.

I think that women (or men) should not get surgery to fix "minor defects." It makes those of us who can't afford surgery look even uglier!
haha. Seriously, though, the more the rich and famous people do that, the higher our standards become for what is acceptable in looks. This causes the average girl or young woman to feel plain and not good enough. She is comparing herself to an unreal standard. I wish that more of the rich and famous women would think of that before they do it.

The surgeries you mention do often demonstrate a preoccupation with self! Jesus told us not to even worry about where our next meal. I think worrying about the shape of your nose etc. and spending your resources on 'fixing' it might indicate an imbalance in the "love your neighbor as yourself" equation.

yes, very true.
we shouldn't be concerned about how other people think we look or about how we look, God loves us no matter what, and thinks we are perfect just the way we are! i say no to all of those!
when we all die, it won't matter who had a better nose or who had a better skin or who weighed less, it matters that you accepted Jesus and love him. So don't concern yourself with such minor earthly things!
hope that helped! God bless you! :)

The beauty and nobility of a human being is her soul, which can be improved and enhaced by herself. I love my wife dearly, although she spends not a cent for cosmetics.
People who seek beauty from artificial means not only waste their time, money, but also their precious lives.

Well actually, Jesus died for our sins and freedom of choice. If people want to "fix" certain areas that is up to them. I still believe that God's creations are perfect b/c surgery is a definate technological advancement that needed to be achieved to improve life on earth. We show our perfection and faults every day. That, in my opinion, makes us a perfect species to experiment on.

I think that God is sad that one would choose to use his/her money so unwisely when there are starving and lost people on the earth. The $10,000 you may spend on a boob job would certainly go a long way to feeding the hungry or sending missionaries to preach the gospel.
Plastic surgery is vanity and self-worship. If one is that much into his/herself how can he/she be focused on God and His work which is the only REAL reason we are here?
