Every once in awhile I get this red mark below my bottom lip, I don't know if it's a cold sore as it doesn't do much besides get red and iritated. Sometimes it tingles or feels itchy, but not a lot. It lasts for about one week and then goes away. It also can spread a bit into my bottom lip. Any ideas?? Thanks!!!

it's most likely a cold sore. cold sores are viruses. there are two types of viruses: active and latent. active viruses stay for a while and then go away. latent viruses go into the body part and STAY there, but only affect it at certain times. it's no biggie, just ask your doctor if it's a serious problem. otherwise, just go to Wal-mart, Walgreens, Target, etc. and get some cold sore medication.

Yep, could be the beginning of a very different type of skin condition. Treat it with Tea Tree Oil, which will kill staph, strep, parasites, e.coli, bacteria, fungus, viruses and candida (or yeast).

I use a lip balm with beeswax and Tea Tree Oil in it to heal any lesions that I get and I do get a number of lesions that heal very slowly and re-occur again. I have been able to control the outbreaks using Melaleuca Alternifolia containing products.

This is a natural antiseptic as well. E-Mail me if you'd like to discuss your skin problem.

Good Luck and Be Well.

Do you lick your lips alot? That could cause some irritation and swelling to sensitive skin. It might also be that you bite your bottom lip. Anyways you should definitely go to the doctor and check it out.

Hope that was helpful!
