This just goes to show how imperfect we all are and God can use even the most imperfect ones. Jesus was the only perfect human.

Thats right! Our prophets should not be such poor models. What exactly are the prophets?
They are the best amongst men who are chosen by GOD to deliver HIS message to the mankind. And they are the cream of the milk. Their character is without any shade of malice. They are the most truthful, kind, generous, pious etc.
But why does the Bible show them in the negative?
The answer is simple, The Bible has been corrupted by men for their material gains. If it had REMAINED the word of GOD, it would not have contained un-scientific claims, immoral acts etc.
So because it has been corrupted and degraded, it is wrong to consider the PRESENT Bible as the word of GOD.
Whats the solution?
Read the Book which is un-altered since 1427 years. Is a complete code of Life. Has scientific data in it which people came to know in todays's modern age. Is Logical and 100% compatible with Modern Scientific Facts.
Read the Quran.

Every one is human including prophets (see the link), but perhaps you should take some time to investigate how these issues are understood by traditional Biblical scholars (priests, rabbis, etc.) they can give you insights in to what you may have overlooked in the meanings of each of these verses.

The role model is Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We all have the stain of sin which shows itself in our weakness of faith, perfection is not inour bones, but God has given the Holy Spirit to help us, if we can trust.
It is all by faith

Today we don't call them Prophets.
We call them, more accurately, "con artists".
