Most definitely! If that's their thing, if that's what they wanna do, and it doesn't affect school or other people, there's no problem with it at all.

I do think students should be allowed to pray in school, but only if schools can ensure that opportunities are available for all students of all faiths.

I study at a public university and I wish we had a spirituality center where I could go and pray everyday. I spend almost all day there.. in fact the only prayer I'm home for is generally Fajr. It would be nice if there were a place where people of all faiths could gather to pray. Not just in universities, but schools too.

When I went to high school, my school solved that problem by having a moment of silence for which a person could pray, meditate, cram for the upcoming test, or whatever as long as the student was quiet about it for about 2 minutes or so.More schools should adopt that policy, that way no one gets their shorts in a twist over religious favoritism.

No permission is needed. If you want to pray then pray. You do not have to stand on a box in the hallway and pray for the whole school to hear. Prayer to me is a personal matter between myself and something greater than myself. I do not feel the need to share this personal time with others. Prayer also comes in many forms. So if ya wanna....do it!

In a small group which individuals have all chosen to pray to the same God, I see no problem. However, that has not been the case which is why there was objection in the first place.

I don't have a problem with it. But, as you can already see from the answers given, everybody has a different opinion of what "interference" is.

Most people can be trusted to come up with a common sense compromise. It's only when (a minority of) people become dogmatic about their belief/non-belief does religious (or lack of)expression become a problem.

If it does not interfere with classes and is done during break time, I do not see any reason why it should not be allowed. However, right before a test, I would say a quick prayer to ask the Lord to help me through the test.

No,at my school, they had what was called a "prayer lunch bunch" where christian kids were allowed to get together in "fellowship" and pray during lunch time,(sounds lovely, doesn't it? read on.) However, they wouldn't let muslims have a prayer group, atheists have a non-prayer group, and try as I might, they would not allow me to start a "Satan's Supper Service", so at least in my case, they used "prayer in school" as a way to religiously discriminate against minority religions. Do you think this is right?

Yes I do think so, I can remember when I was a child we always said our prayers before class.... now look at kids today, no respect, out of controll, bad kids, girls getting preggers at age 12 and 13, it starts at home, their parents are not teaching them about God..and how to be a respectable person.

I will not knock other religions, if they wish not to pray, that is OK.. but those who wish too, should have the right to.

I also would like to add, I respect the middle eastern, and Muslim ways- the women are very respectable, and modest in their dress, I think it is important for young girls to be taught at a young age to dress modest. and not show their bodies, their breast, and their backsides.
I am american ( but I think the americans are the worst about this... they dress like sluts, them get mad when the men approach them, they have no respect for themselves.

Yes. They have that right already and they use it. What isn't allowed is for the school to endorse any particular religion--or to encourage/discourage religion. As long as the public schools stay neutral on the topic, I see nothing wrong with it.

It's a free country, kids can pray in school if they want to. The school just cant get involved.
