when the Bible was translated into English!!! Did you know that Hades simply means death?mmmmmmmmmmmm.......What are your thoughts on this? Well yes there is a mention of an eternal lake of fire. Is hell as common place as some people like to make it sound as if it is?

In Greek mythology Hades was the god of the underworld. Going to him often meant finding out whether you spent eternity in a beautiful green valley or rotting in an underground 'hell' that we in modern times tend to think of as Hell.

Hades is not hell, Hades was the holding place for both the Saints and the sinners to be placed because Jesus had not yet be crucified on the cross.No one could go into heaven until Christ decended into the earth and set the captives free. At this point the people who are in Christ can now be with Christ in heaven.On one side of Hades it was a luxuary place for the saints on the other half it was a burning hot hellish place for sinners almost like hell but not the same. ----> See Abraham's Bossom

No one is in Hell yet because the final judgment has not been made
see the book of revelations 20:14
And death and hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

So I am assuming that the lake of Burning Fire is the real Hell

Much has been said on this topic, but to reaffirm;

The apostle John had a thrilling vision of resurrected ones standing before the throne of God. Describing it, he wrote: “The sea gave up those dead in it, and death and Hades gave up those dead in them, and they were judged individually according to their deeds. And death and Hades were hurled into the lake of fire. This means the second death, the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:12-14) Think of what that means! All the dead who are in God’s memory will be released from Hades, or Sheol, mankind’s common grave. (Psalm 16:10; Acts 2:31) Then “death and Hades” will be hurled into what is called “the lake of fire,” symbolizing complete destruction. The common grave of mankind will cease to exist.

Wow, wonders never cease.Hell comes from the Norse Goddess Hel, who was in charge of death and the afterlife.The only exception to that is Valhalla, where warriors killed in battle get to party with Odin.The rest of the place is reserved for the everyday average Viking.Hades was the Greek God of death.The Greek afterlife was divided into several areas.Tatarus is the place where bad people go and the Elysium fields are where good people and fallen warriors go.The lake of fire is strictly Old Testament.The Jewish afterlife is called Sheol.

Very good question! The Celtic word "hell" is a word that means "underground storage". For instance, the Celtic people would store there potatoes in "hell" for the winter.

I have also heard Gehena in the Bible, was refered to as hell. But that was in reality simply as garbage dump, just like the landfills that we have today.

That is true and hell which is also a Greek word means a Greek garbage Pitt. People in Greece used to tell their misbehaving children they would go to hell or the Greek garbage pit where criminals were burned if they were not good.
After the Romans(inventors of Christianity) began the roman catholic church(father church of Christianity) they had Greek slave interpreters to write the bible for them.
