i personally do. i suffer from depression (pretty extreme at times, along with self harm) and some ocd tendencies, and i feel guilty alot. I feel like i'm a burden on my family and friends. I believe that that is a problem among those with mental problems. That's why lots of commercial say "Depression is not your fault" or "you are not a bad mother if you suffer from post partum depression" and stuff like that. People with a mental illness are naturally already in a very vunerable position, and if others around them don't except thier illness in the best of ways that can exacerbate the situation. Such as depression, they are naturally already hypersensitive to any sort of criticism, which can make them hard to deal with and lead others to be more critical of them, and is really just a viscious cycle. So, i personally feel guilty and i believe that alot of people feel guilty about thier mental illness's, whether it be because of the disease itself (one of the symptoms being guilt, such as ocd and depression) or just seeing the stress they put on others and feeling guilty about that.

I don't feel guilty, it's out of my control. What I don't like is other people putting those down that do have it, those are the people that very much badly need help.
Another thing about a mental illness, it's sad when someone has it, but is in denial.

Many do because of the pressure put on them by others. Mental illness is not recognized by many as an illness. Myself, I don't feel guilty for being mentally ill. Frustrated yes, but not guilty.

yes, I suffered with depression a lot (that is a mental illness) and put my family and partner through a lot of pain and worry, this is normal but you have to remember that you have no control over it and to just take your meds and try the relaxation techniques. I even saw a counseller which helped me tremendously!!

I don't feel guilty, but it's something that I don't want people to know about me.
