First words of wisdom would be to get off dial up and go for a broadband service if your doing online classes .That might be why your loosing connection as that your dial-ups resetting . if you get a broadband service you wont have to worry about disconnections when someone needs to use the phone. also d/ling school work has got to be a pain from remembering all 12 student in my class trying to download 1.5 mb book file and it taking a half hour to download it over a t1 at 5.5 kbps.
try your local cable company for better services.
Also if you happen to have a phone with usb slot and service like verizon if you have vcast in your area could give you better speeds if other are not avail by connecting pc to the phone and using as high speed. i saw you could get it for 15 extra if you already have service over $35.
Also theres many other browser available like Firefox and Netscape as usually known programs. You just have to make sure the programs you use are compatible with the other browsers and that you know that some site may be tested and used in one browser may look a tad different in a different browser. Also note leave Internet explore on you pc as you will need it to install any future patches Microsoft may hand out to you.
Hope this helps ya .good luck in classes ;)

I would suggest you try Firefox as your search engine over internet explorer and I like Google.com for Canada. You can get this and lots more great freeware at Tucows.com As for a dial up provider I guess sympatico is ok and they offer a high speed dial up as well, depending on your location. Also check your yellow pages for a local internet provider. There are plenty of dial up providers that are less than $15. a month for unlimited access. Hope this is of some help to you. Cheers !

Firefox is pretty good. Also, if you are Microsoft type of person try upgrading to IE 7.0 it seems a little more reliable than previous versions.

A whole lot of people are using Firefox now and like it a lot. Just look for firefox with Google and you'll get lots of palce to download it from. It's faster, more secure, simpler and free.

Try Firefox.
As for dial-up, I have not used that inyears, but stay away from AOL, too much overhead there.

Regardless of what anyone says, DO NOT DOWNLOAD IE 7.0!!!!
So many people have been having problems with it and cannot get their previous version back. Try going with Mozilla or Netscape.

I use Moxilla Firefox. My school even uses it. I've always found it extremely reliable.
